📍 June is National Microchipping Month in the UK! 🐱🇬🇧

While this safety month is celebrated right across the UK, it’s the perfect time for an important legal reminder: compulsory cat microchipping is currently only the law in England! 🚨

The English mandate officially came into force back in 2024. If you want a quick refresher on the regulations or want to make sure you're fully compliant, head over to our website to read our blog post: https://www.thecatbutler.co.uk/cat-care-guides/microchipping-your-cat-the-deadline-has-arrived/ 📖✨

Even if you live outside of England where it isn't a legal requirement yet—or if your kitty is a strictly indoor lounge lizard—getting them chipped is still the single best way to ensure they find their way back to you if they ever go on an unexpected wander. 🏡❤️

📝 Your Quick Microchip Checklist:
Update Your Info: A chip is only as good as the data attached to it! If you’ve moved house, changed your phone number, or updated your email, make sure to log into your registry database and update your details. 📞

Request a Quick Scan: Next time you visit the vet, ask them to do a quick scan of your kitty's shoulders to ensure the chip is functioning perfectly and sitting exactly where it should be. 🩺

Peace of mind is truly priceless when it comes to protecting our furry family members! 🥰🐾

People often think unneutered tom cats are "just being cats "but many owners of female cats see a very different reality.
Neutered female cats can live in constant fear when aggressive unneutered toms are roaming nearby. Some females become too frightened to go outside at all knowing they may be chased, cornered, attacked and in rare cases killed in there own garden.
The emotional stress this causes is very real. Cats can become anxious ,aggressive ,withdrawn, overgroom, stop using the litter tray properly or loose confidence completely. For some the home no longer feels safe. trust goes in the human who is supposed to protect them.
This is why neutering male cats matters so much. it is not only preventing kittens- it is also about reducing aggression, fighting, intimidation and fear within the cat community
Responsible neutering helps create a safer, calmer life for ALL cats.

🐱 Do Indoor Cats Really Need Vaccinations? 💉

It's a question that often sparks debate among cat owners. After all, if your cat never sets paw outside, surely they're safe from disease... right?

While indoor cats are at a lower risk than outdoor cats, some infections can still find their way into the home on clothing, shoes, visitors, or through contact with other pets. Vaccinations help protect against potentially serious illnesses and play an important role in keeping the wider cat population healthy.

Every cat is different, and factors such as age, health, lifestyle, and local disease risks should all be considered. The best approach is to have a conversation with your veterinarian, who can help you make an informed decision based on your cat's individual needs.

💙 As responsible cat owners, our goal is always the same: giving our feline friends the happiest, healthiest life possible.

🐾 What's your view? Do you vaccinate your indoor cats? Let us know in the comments.

Thinking of a cheeky last-minute weekend away or grabbing a bargain sunshine holiday, but worried about what to do with your cat?

Many cats are happiest in the comfort of their own home, surrounded by familiar sights, smells, and routines. Instead of the stress of travelling to a cattery, a professional cat sitter can visit your home, ensuring your feline friend receives food, fresh water, medication if needed, and plenty of fuss while you enjoy your break completely worry-free. Your cat stays relaxed, and you return home to a happy, content companion. 🐾☀️

Because holidays should be stress-free for both you and your cat. 😺💕

As a proud small business owner, I'm delighted to be celebrating UK Small Business Week. Building The Cat Butler has been an exciting journey, allowing me to combine my passion for animal welfare with supporting local cat owners. Small businesses are the heart of our communities, and I'm incredibly grateful for the support I've received as I begin this new chapter.
