🐾🐶 POLICIES 🐶🐾
Infectious illnesses and Parasite infestations;
Please cancel your grooming appointment, ideally with more than 48 hours’ notice, if your dog is;
o Unwell
o Has symptoms of diarrhoea and/or vomiting
o Has been diagnosed with any type of contagious infection by your vet
o If you notice your dog has fleas, mites, worms, or ring worm (fungal infection)
If unsure, please do make prompt contact to discuss your concerns or to cancel and reschedule your dog’s appointment for when they are well and no longer infectious.
Please do not risk bringing your dog to their appointment, it spreads infection, infestation and disease, putting other customers dogs and my own dogs at risk.
Some infections and diseases are zoonotic which means they can pass to humans as well.
If I feel your dog appears unwell, or I notice fleas, mites, worms or ring worm, I will have no choice but to terminate the groom and send your dog home immediately.
I would kindly ask that full payment is made even if the groom isn’t complete due to the appointment time lost.
This will also be because of the additional time spent cleaning and decontaminating the grooming salon and it may be that I must have to cancel all my scheduled grooms for the day which is a loss of further income.
Please be honest and understanding if your dog is unwell and if you are asked to collect your dog immediately from the grooming salon.
Late arrivals or collections;
Please drop off and collect your dog at the agreed times provided.
Arriving late to drop off or collect impacts on my other customers and their dog/s booked for appointments that day.
If you are more than 15 minutes late dropping off your dog, it may be that I must cancel your appointment.
If you are more than 15 minutes late collecting your dog, it may be that I can’t accept my next dog into the salon, due to working 1-1 and space available in the grooming salon.
Cancellations;
Please give a minimum of 48 hours’ notice to cancel and rearrange a groom.
If you give less than 48 hours’ notice, I will ask that 50% of the grooming price be paid for the missed appointment prior to re booking your dog.
It’s extremely difficult to fill appointments with less than 48 hours’ notice.
If you give less than 24 hours’ notice, or forget your appointment, I will ask that the full amount of the grooming price be paid, prior to re booking your dog.
Failure to do so will mean no further appointments will be booked at Buddy’s.
Payment;
I can be paid via cash and bank transfer.
If you would like to pay via bank transfer, I kindly ask that you pay me either before collection or during collection of your dog.
Late payment charges will be added for each day I am not paid after an initial 24-hour period.
Failure to pay the late payment charge will mean no further appointments will be booked at Buddy’s.
Matting release Ear plucking and A**l gland expression;
Matting-
Sometimes dogs do become matted and will have to have their coat shaved short as a welfare groom.
This will always be explained and verbal permission sought from the owner only.
Under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, we are not allowed to brush matting for a period of longer than 10 minutes, due to the pain and discomfort it will cause your dog.
Sometimes matting release takes further time.
There may be a further charge for matting release and if severe it may be that an additional appointment will need to be scheduled to complete the groom or I refer your dog to your veterinary practice.
Matting blunts equipment and if your dog continues to attend matted, a charge for damage to my equipment will be added.
Ear plucking-
If your dog can tolerate this procedure, it will again be carried out under the understanding that should the dog’s ear be red smelly sore infected under the fur plucked away, I will not be liable for any veterinary treatment costs.
This procedure can also be provided by your local veterinary practice.
If the fur doesn’t pluck easily, or your dog becomes distressed and can’t tolerate the procedure I will refer you to your veterinary practice.
A**l gland expression-
A**l gland expression should never be carried out by a groomer unless explicit written permission has been provided by the dog’s vet.
Permission would have to be sought individually for each dog even if from the same household. This adheres to the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966.
There will be a charge for the time it takes for me to contact your Vet and ask for this permission.
Aggressive Dogs;
If you know your dog is aggressive or will bite, please be honest.
I will have to use appropriate restraint such as a muzzle to keep myself and your dog safe.
If I do get bitten it could risk my ability to work and the loss of income would be of huge detriment to my family and home.
If I feel as a 1-1 groomer, I am unable to manage your dog safely, I won’t be able to accept them at Buddy’s.
The equipment we use to groom is sharp and I need to be able to use the equipment safely.
Accidents;
Due to the grooming equipment, we use, being very sharp, accidents can happen.
Dogs do move frequently whilst being groomed.
Whilst the most care will be taken to avoid accidents from happening, should this happen, I will provide first aid care to your dog, when they are safe, I will contact you immediately.
Depending on how the accident occurred and whether I am at fault or not will depend on whether I seek financial support from my insurance provider to cover the cost of veterinary treatment.
