What a fantastic day today at Solihull ch obedience show

Diamonds in the Rough 4th place out of 12.

Not an easy feat but amazing from two fabulous mother and daughter teams!

Megan Gatt first time in the obreedience team - handling my Baby - a dog she had only met once before today! She controlled the nerves and scored 7/10 in the send to bed - amazing - well done! So lovely to have a new team member too!

Kathryn Notley handled Stacy Steven Barra in stop the dog. I think (although I might be wrong) this was the first time Barra had done this in an obreedience heat. Another handler with a 'strange' dog and they aced it getting 8/10 - only losing points on being too good and stopping a fraction too quickly.

Stacy was then handling Barra's mother Brooke - first time doing a retrieve in the obreedience heats and she completely aced it with a 10/10 perfect score - way to go!!! She's only actually been holding a dumb bell for a few months - what a lot of work has gone into that!

Finally, me and Flora - Baby's daughter had the scent exercise. Dogs always surprise you and she decided to predict the release - which she's never done before - and then search the stop the dog area before realising her mistake and finding her article without any extra help from me. A solid 8/10 but she did nearly give me a heart attack!

I am so proud of the team - one way and another it's not been an easy year for us so this felt like a really positive achievement today and sits us back soundly in the running to qualify again this year 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Then - just to really add the icing to the cake - Flora and I competed in intro for only the 2nd time ever and were sitting in a 3 way tie for a place and after a run off we got 2nd place with only 3/4 of a mark lost. I was completely thrilled with her - what a dog!

All in all a really super day - well done eberyone!

Super Flora - this was only our 2nd ever go at obedience, last time was a bit of a disaster and I realised we really weren't ready. We've worked hard since and had some lessons which are really helping. We did a training round in beginners as I didn't have time to prepare and I just needed her to have fun. Then pre-beginners I felt had some super bits and some bits to work on and we go 4th place in a big class 💚💚💚

Baby also had a super day with the KC pre-beginners stakes - lots of really good bits and lots to work on.

The Diamonds in the Rough team got a very creditable 9th place in a huge entry and all performed really well.

All in all a lovely day with dogs and friends - what more could I ask for! As a dog trainer I'm not going to mention the fact that Flora stole all her team mate, Blaze's, treats while I was videoing and then stole half my sandwich at lunchtime while I was clapping for another class!!!! 🤣

I can't believe this is our last day with our 4 babies - they have been such a wonderful litter, I have enjoyed them so much. It's lovely to send them off to their super new homes but I shall miss them so much! 💛💛💚💛
