Macqueen Vets Small animal first opinion and referral practice in Devizes, Wiltshire. In the year 2000 we moved into brand-new, purpose built premises on the edge of Devizes.

Ian and Jacky Macqueen established the practice in 1990, convinced that a small companion animal practice could provide the highest standards of veterinary care. We have always aimed to combine the most up-to-date techniques and products with a compassionate attitude to patient and client. Our criterion has always been "what would we want for our pet?" and each patient receives the same care that

we would give our our own cherished companions. We now work in a well-designed, light-filled building surrounded by our large green garden and car park, with beautiful views stretching across the downs and the Millennium White Horse is a familiar friend. The spacious interior gives us the chance to expand and grow toward that which is closest to our hearts: providing the best possible care for your pet, through knowledge, technology and compassion.

Meet Mario from Macqueen Vets!

He was having a lovely cuddle with Houdini after checking how he’s doing, Houdini is the kitten that has been accidentally sat on which has resulted in a nasty hip break.

We’re hoping for surgery soon now he’s grown a little bit more.

Back to school isn't just a big change for children - it can be a big adjustment for pets too. 🎒

As the summer holidays come to an end, our pets often have to get used to quieter homes, new routines and spending more time on their own.

To help them settle back into the school routine:

📚Gradually reintroduce time alone
🧩Keep them busy with enrichment toys and
puzzle feeders
🚶‍♀️Stick to regular walks and feeding times
✏️Make time for quality cuddles and play before and after school

Meet Einstein, who was simply too adorable for words, all snuggled up in his basket after his visit with our vet, Becky, this week. 💙

🐾 Story Time: Keats and the Curious Grass Seed! 🌿

Meet Keats, a beautiful lurcher with an even more beautiful spirit. ❤️

Over the weekend, Keats' owners noticed a swelling developing on his jaw, and by Tuesday it seemed to be getting worse. Concerned, they brought him in to see one of our vets. After a thorough examination, the cause wasn't immediately obvious, leaving us with a few possible explanations and a mystery to solve.

Determined to get to the bottom of it, Keats returned on Wednesday for a CT scan with Mario. This gave us the best possible look at what was happening beneath the surface. The scan revealed signs of infection and something that didn't quite belong there. With a little more detective work using ultrasound, we finally uncovered the culprit...

A grass seed! 🌾

This small troublemaker had worked its way into an awkward spot and was causing all sorts of problems for poor Keats. Thankfully, we were able to remove the pesky intruder and get him on the road to recovery.

That afternoon, Keats headed home with a wagging tail, a grass seed souvenir, and lots of well-deserved cuddles and rest ahead of him. 🐕💙

We're so pleased to have helped this lovely boy feel more comfortable again. It's a great reminder that even the smallest things can sometimes cause big problems, and why investigating unusual swellings early is always important.

Get well soon, Keats! We think you've definitely earned a few extra treats. 🦴✨

Announcing our ulti-mutt sponsors for Paws Charity Dog Show: Macqueen Vets🐾

We're thrilled that the event is returning for another year, promising a fantastic day out for families and four-legged friend alike!

There will be a full day of displays, 'have-a-go' sessions, dog show classes, traders and a children's activity area.

Sunday 13 September at Rainscombe Park at Oare, near Marlborough.
