Macqueen Vets Small animal first opinion and referral practice in Devizes, Wiltshire. In the year 2000 we moved into brand-new, purpose built premises on the edge of Devizes.

Ian and Jacky Macqueen established the practice in 1990, convinced that a small companion animal practice could provide the highest standards of veterinary care. We have always aimed to combine the most up-to-date techniques and products with a compassionate attitude to patient and client. Our criterion has always been "what would we want for our pet?" and each patient receives the same care that we would give our our own cherished companions. We now work in a well-designed, light-filled building surrounded by our large green garden and car park, with beautiful views stretching across the downs and the Millennium White Horse is a familiar friend. The spacious interior gives us the chance to expand and grow toward that which is closest to our hearts: providing the best possible care for your pet, through knowledge, technology and compassion.

As our pets get older, some changes can be easy to put down to “just getting old”.
But changes in their health, behaviour or mobility can sometimes be signs that they need a little extra support.

We’re always here for them. Whether you’ve noticed something different or simply want some reassurance about your pet’s changing needs, our veterinary team is here to listen, check them over and help you understand what’s normal and what may need a little more attention.

Because getting older is a part of life - but your pet doesn’t have to navigate it alone.

When does your pet officially become a senior?

Our pets can start showing signs of ageing at different stages depending on their species, size and breed - but becoming a senior doesn’t mean they have to slow down!

Regular health checks can help spot age-related changes early and make sure your pet stays happy, comfortable and healthy throughout their golden years. Ask us about our Life Stage clinics to get booked in 🐾💙

🐾 Coco’s little comeback story! 🐾

Meet Coco, a tiny pup with a very big personality! 💕

Coco came to see us recently after becoming poorly very quickly, not long after arriving at her new home. Understandably, her owners were incredibly worried, and we were too. 🥺

She needed some very intensive care, so our wonderful team at Macqueens looked after her and it was a real team effort to give this little girl the care she needed. ❤️‍🩹

Thankfully, by the following day, Coco had perked up and her cheeky puppy personality was back! 🥰 She was well enough to head home for some much-needed cuddles and rest with her family.

And this week, she came back to visit us with a very waggy tail, a bright little face and, most importantly, a very relieved owner! 🐶💗

We’re absolutely delighted to see Coco back to her happy, playful self. Stories like hers are a lovely reminder of just how precious our little patients are, and how much teamwork and care can go into helping them get back on their paws. 🐾

Keep being your cheeky self, Coco! 💕

❗WARNING DISTRESSING CONTENT - IMAGES OF SURGERY❗

Introducing Elvis, a sweet and affectionate 1-year-old Domestic Shorthair who was transferred to Macqueen Veterinary Referrals by the RSPCA Wiltshire Mid Branch after being found as a stray with serious injuries.

Following advanced diagnostic investigations, it was discovered that Elvis had sustained a pelvic fracture in three separate locations. Our Referral Surgeon, Carly Smith, performed a complex surgical repair using titanium plates to stabilise the fractures and give Elvis the best chance of a full recovery.

After surgery, Elvis was cared for overnight in our hospital ward, where he received round-the-clock monitoring and support from our dedicated nursing team. The following day, he was well enough to head home to his new foster family to continue his recovery.

We are delighted to share that Elvis is now four weeks post-surgery and making excellent progress. His recovery has been nothing short of remarkable, and he continues to grow stronger every day.

A special thank you goes to the RSPCA Wiltshire Mid Branch and everyone who contributed towards Elvis's treatment and care. Without the compassion, generosity, and dedication of the volunteers and supporters involved, Elvis may never have had the opportunity to experience the loving future that now lies ahead of him.

We're so proud to have been part of Elvis's journey and can't wait to see what the future holds for this resilient little cat. ❤️🐱

We offer outpatient CT services and welcome referrals from veterinary practices for cases where advanced imaging can help guide diagnosis and treatment.

If you’re a primary care vet looking for support with more complex cases, our team is here to help. We provide a full range of referral services, including:
• Endoscopy
• Soft tissue surgery
• Orthopaedic surgery
• Spinal surgery
…and more

For referrals or advice, please get in touch - we’re always happy to help.
