TOO HOT TO TRAIN? 🥵🐾

Sometimes the best training we can do for our dogs is NO training at all.

When temperatures are this high, dogs can struggle to regulate their body temperature, and exercise or structured training can put unnecessary stress on them.

This isn’t about being lazy or missing a session it’s about putting your dog’s welfare first.

💧 Keep them cool and hydrated
🌳 Walk during the cooler parts of the day
🧠 Give them calm, enrichment-based activities
😴 Let them rest and decompress

Decompression and teaching your dog how to do nothing is an often overlooked but incredibly powerful part of any training programme. It helps build emotional regulation, reduces arousal, and teaches your dog that calmness is a valuable and rewarding state to be in which ultimately makes all of your future training clearer, easier, and more effective.

Remember, training isn’t just about teaching a behaviour. It’s about knowing when your dog needs a break.

A tired dog isn’t always a happy dog and in this heat, an exhausted dog can be a dog in danger.

Stay cool, look after your dogs, and don’t feel guilty about putting training on hold. ❤️🐶

We would like to remind visitors that Barefeet Tea Room remains open during the current works at Osborne's Pond.
Although some paths are temporarily closed, access to the tea room is still available via alternative routes within the park.
Opening Hours
• Weekdays (excluding Tuesdays): 10am–2pm
• Saturdays and Sundays: 9.30am–3pm
• Closed Tuesdays
During school holidays, opening hours will be extended to:
• Daily, 10am–3pm
We encourage visitors to continue supporting Barefeet Tea Room during this period and thank everyone for their patience while the works are completed.

Pepper has been here for 3 weeks and we have carefully managed the relationship between Kara and Pepper

And today it looks like it's finally paying off, It has been very difficult and it still is only the beginning.

We're on the right track, what a beautiful relationship in progress.
