✨ We’re delighted to share some wonderful news ✨

It brings us so much joy to confirm that today we have received a negative test result from the guttural pouch wash for strangles.

This is excellent news and, following clear advice and guidance from our veterinary team, we are now able to fully reopen the centre with immediate effect.
This decision has been made in close consultation with our vets, who are confident that it is safe to do so.

Throughout this time, we have followed strict biosecurity protocols, allowing the rest of our horses to remain healthy, and we will continue to maintain high standards of hygiene across the yard to protect the health and wellbeing of all our horses and visitors.

Our online booking system will be updated shortly to reflect this, and we are really looking forward to welcoming you all back again soon! πŸ΄πŸ’›

Thank you all for your patience, understanding, and continued support - it has truly meant a lot to us.

A glimpse into degree-level study πŸ‘€πŸŽ“

Our Level 3 year 2 students got stuck into an internal Higher Education taster morning - exploring biomechanics, diving into the anatomy of the eye, and even creating their own models before carrying out a pig eye dissection in the lab.
Making real comparisons between human, horse, and pig anatomy 🐎🧠

An exciting preview of what’s to come next year on the equine degree!

Yesterday we welcomed Gem Equine Vets to assess one of our horses after she got herself into a bit of trouble in the field and was left unsound.

Following a veterinary examination, an ultrasound scan was recommended to investigate any potential tendon damage. While never ideal circumstances, we took the opportunity to turn the visit into a valuable learning experience for our students.

A huge thank you to Nerissa, who took the time to explain the scanning process, talk through her findings, and discuss the next steps in the horse’s treatment plan.

Experiences like these provide invaluable real-world learning opportunities, and we are incredibly grateful for her willingness to share her expertise.

πŸ”¬ Hands-On Learning in Action! 🐎

Our Level 6 BSc degree students have recently completed a detailed equine leg dissection as part of their programme, an invaluable opportunity to connect theory with practice.

This experience has strengthened their understanding of equine exercise physiology and biomechanics, giving real insight into how structure supports movement and performance. It has also allowed students to develop essential laboratory skills, from anatomical identification to precise handling techniques.

A fantastic effort from all involved, great to see such engagement with applied science! πŸ‘

Update: Strangles Case

We wanted to provide a further update following our previous message regarding our confirmed isolated strangles case.

Unfortunately, the affected horse is still testing positive, and as a result, our lockdown period has been extended for the time being. The affected horse is doing well and showing no outward signs or symptoms.

While we appreciate this is disappointing, all current precautions and biosecurity measures will remain in place until we receive full veterinary clearance.

Importantly, we would like to reassure everyone that there has been no spread within the yard. This remains a single, isolated case, and all other horses continue to show no symptoms.

Daily monitoring is ongoing in line with veterinary guidance to ensure the continued health and wellbeing of all horses on site.
We will keep you updated as soon as we are given the all-clear and truly appreciate everyone’s patience, understanding, and cooperation during this time.

Students can continue to attend college as normal and will be briefed on site.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Thank you, again, for your continued support 🧑
