🐾💙 Happy Gotcha Day to our gorgeous boy, Chance! 💙🐾

Today we celebrate Chance and the wonderful family who gave this special rescue boy the loving home he truly deserves.

When Chance first came to us, he was understandably nervous and unsure, taking everything in at his own pace. But with each passing day, his confidence grew a little more, and it has been such a privilege to watch him blossom. Now, we get to see his silly, goofy personality shine brighter every day, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. 🥹💙

A huge thank you to Chance’s amazing pawrents for the yummy goodies for the humans and for treating all of the dogs to delicious carrots and apples. 🥕🍎🍩

Chance, you are proof that with love, patience, and a family who believes in you, beautiful things happen. We are so lucky to be part of your journey and to watch you continue to thrive.

Happy Gotcha Day, sweet boy. Here’s to many more years of adventures, zoomies, and showing everyone your wonderfully silly personality! 🐶🎉💙

Key dog food safety tips🐶

* Check expiry dates on dry and wet food.
* Store kibble in a cool, dry place and keep bags sealed.
* Refrigerate opened canned food and use it within 2–3 days.
* Wash bowls regularly with hot, soapy water.
* Avoid feeding spoiled food or foods toxic to dogs, such as chocolate, grapes, onions, and xylitol.
* Follow recall notices from manufacturers and veterinary authorities.
* Introduce new foods gradually to avoid digestive upset.

When introducing a new food to your dog, make the change gradually over 7–10 days by mixing increasing amounts of the new food with the old food. Start with mostly the current food and a small portion of the new one, then slowly adjust the ratio every few days. This helps your dog’s digestive system adapt, reducing the risk of stomach upset, diarrhea, or food refusal and making the transition more comfortable and successful😊

☀️🐶 HOT WEATHER WARNING FOR DOG OWNERS 🐶☀️

Dogs can suffer from heat stroke very quickly — and it can become life-threatening in minutes.

🚨 SIGNS OF HEAT STROKE:
• Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
• Drooling more than usual
• Bright red gums or tongue
• Weakness, wobbling or collapse
• Vomiting or diarrhoea
• Confusion or glazed eyes
• Seizures or unconsciousness

⚠️ HIGHER RISK DOGS:
Flat-faced breeds (Frenchies, Pugs, Bulldogs), older dogs, overweight dogs, puppies, and dogs with medical conditions.

✅ HOW TO PREVENT HEAT STROKE:
• Walk dogs early morning or late evening
• Avoid hot pavements — if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws
• Always provide shade and fresh water
• Never leave dogs in cars — even for a few minutes
• Avoid over-exercising in warm weather
• Use cooling mats, paddling pools or damp towels
• Let dogs rest frequently

❌ WHAT NOT TO DO:
• Do NOT pour ice-cold water over them suddenly
• Do NOT force them to drink large amounts
• Do NOT cover them with wet towels completely
• Do NOT wait “to see if they improve” if symptoms are severe

🆘 WHAT TO DO IF YOU SUSPECT HEAT STROKE:
1️⃣ Move your dog to a cool, shaded area immediately
2️⃣ Use cool (not freezing) water on paws, belly and body
3️⃣ Offer small amounts of water
4️⃣ Use fans or airflow if possible
5️⃣ Contact your vet urgently — even if your dog seems to recover

Heat stroke is an emergency. Prevention saves lives. ❤️🐾

🐶 Not every cough or sneeze means the same thing… and some symptoms can look very similar 👀

If your dog has been coughing, sneezing, scratching more than usual, or has watery eyes, it could be linked to seasonal irritation, sensitivities, or something more contagious.

⚠️ Things to keep an eye on:
• Persistent coughing
• Sneezing or nasal discharge
• Excessive itching or licking paws
• Watery/red eyes
• Tiredness or reduced appetite

💡 Helpful care tips:
✔️ Keep them hydrated
✔️ Encourage rest and avoid overexcitement
✔️ Swap collars for a harness if they’re coughing
✔️ Wipe paws after walks during high pollen days
✔️ Monitor symptoms and speak to your vet if things worsen

🚫 Avoid:
• Ignoring symptoms that continue for days
• Letting them mix closely with other dogs if unwell
• Giving human medication
• Heavy exercise while recovering

Sometimes the signs are subtle, so early attention and a little extra care can go a long way 🐾
