As the hot summer mellows into early autumn with strong grass growth, wet weather and wide temperature fluctuations, there are a few health challenges that can be particular to this time of year.

From vaccination programs to housing, worm egg counting to dry cow nutrition, now is the time to review your herd and flock health programmes.

Speak to one of the vets to ensure you have a robust plan in place for a healthy and productive Autumn and Winter.

PLEASE SHARE (Again!)

As we continue to build our team, we are looking to recruit an ATT to work alongside our vets.

Whether you're already qualified, or you have the skills but not the training, we would love to hear from you!

DON'T LEAVE TUPPING TO CHANCE THIS YEAR

With Bluetongue circulating and known to impact on fertility, a pre-tupping MOT has never been more important. We can do a physical exam as well as semen evaluation to ensure everything is in order.

A ram can look perfectly healthy on the outside, but if his fertility is compromised, waiting until you see high return rates or empty ewes at scanning, risks losing valuable time and money.

The Sheep Veterinary Society has revised its guidelines with BTV in mind, so give us a call on 01283 243363 to discuss the best option for your flock.

07/09/2026

With the current time lag between sampling and disease being confirmed, it's useful to be able to see where the suspect cases are.

BTV looks to still be on the move and it's definitely not too late to vaccinate - call us if you have any queries

update - We have published a new dynamic heat map layer showing suspected and confirmed cases this season to help keepers monitor the disease.

Vaccination is the best way to protect livestock, keepers should speak to their vet about getting their animals vaccinated.
