🐾 A little price update for the New Year 🐾
I just wanted to give you all a little heads-up that from 1st January, there will be an increase to my grooming prices.
This is something I’ve been putting off for a long time. I’ve always tried to keep my prices as low as possible because I know that everyone has rising costs at the moment. The truth is I’ve been undercharging for my services for quite a while and with the ever increasing costs of running my business I’ve reached the point where I need to make a change.
I absolutely love what I do and more importantly, I love all of your gorgeous dogs 🐶❤️.
I want to be able to continue giving them the time, care and attention they deserve while also making sure that my little business is sustainable.
I’ll be contacting all my regular customers individually over the next few weeks with their new price as this will vary depending on your dog, their size, coat and grooming requirements.
I really hope you understand and I honestly can’t thank you enough for all of your continued loyalty ❤️

🐾 HOW MUCH SHOULD A DOG GROOMER REALLY BE CHARGING YOU? 🐾

I often see people questioning the price of a dog groom and saying, “That’s expensive for a haircut.”

But dog grooming isn’t just a haircut. And it certainly isn’t just about the time the scissors are in your hand.

A professional groomer has usually invested thousands of pounds into setting up their business — grooming tables, dryers, clippers, blades, scissors, bathing equipment, insurance, training and ongoing education.

Then there’s the rent, electricity, water, laundry, cleaning products, shampoos, conditioner, equipment maintenance, waste disposal, business rates, booking systems, card fees… the list goes on.

And most importantly, there is time and SKILL.

A groomer isn't simply making a dog look pretty. They are handling that dog safely, recognising changes in the skin, coat, ears, nails and general condition, working with nervous or difficult dogs, preventing injury and making decisions based on the individual dog's welfare.

This is a skilled trade.

💷 A groomer charging around £30–£40 per hour isn't necessarily earning £30–£40 an hour in their pocket.

That hourly rate has to cover everything above — before the groomer actually pays themselves.

And here's something that really makes me think…

20 years ago, my prices were around:

🐶 Cockerpoo — £40
🐶 Small dog — £35

Twenty years later, those prices have obviously had to increase but have they increased as much as they should have.... I don't feel they have.

Just think about how much rent, electricity, water, insurance, products and equipment have increased over that same period.

Yet there still seems to be an expectation that dog grooming should somehow remain cheap.

Would you expect a plumber, electrician, mechanic or hairdresser to charge the same price today as they did 20 years ago?

Of course not.

So please remember when you book your dog's groom:

❤️ You're not just paying for a haircut.
❤️ You're paying for someone's time.
❤️ You're paying for their years of experience and training.
❤️ You're paying for the equipment and products they have invested in.
❤️ You're paying for a professional, safe environment.
❤️ And ultimately, you're paying for someone to care for your dog's health, comfort and welfare.

Dog grooming is a profession, a skilled trade and a responsibility — not a luxury haircut. 🐾✂️

So perhaps the question shouldn't be “Why does a groom cost that much?”

Maybe it should be:

“How much does it actually cost a professional groomer to provide that service?”

🐾🎀 Tomorrow is a very special day…🎀🐾

Tomorrow my beautiful girl Rose starts school ! 🥹❤️

It really doesn’t seem possible that she’s already old enough. Rose has been by my side most days in the grooming room since she was just 6 weeks old. She has quite literally grown up surrounded by dogs, cuddles, barking and muddy paws 🐶❤️

Over the years Rose has become a little familiar face to so many of you and she absolutely loves every single dog that comes through the door. She knows most of their names, their little personalities and is always so excited to see them 🥰🐾

A huge thank you to all of my wonderful customers for your patience, understanding and for letting Rose grow up alongside me and your gorgeous dogs. Working from home whilst she was young was the best decision I ever made and your kindness has meant more than you know ❤️

She is definitely going to miss her furry friends (and I think they’ll miss her too! 🥹). But don’t worry… Rose will be back during the school holidays to help me out in the grooming room I’m sure, so you haven’t seen the last of her. Maybe even my little apprentice one day !? 😆✂️💕

Here’s to a brand new adventure for her . 🎒✨

✨ WE’RE OFFICIALLY LICENSED! ✨

Deal Dog Club has officially been granted a 4-star Animal Activity Licence for home boarding and dog day care: the highest rating available to a new business.

It means I can now officially offer:

🐾 Home boarding
🐾 Home-based doggy daycare
🐾 Group walks
🐾 Solo walks
🐾 Drop-in visits

One thing I’m especially excited about is home-based daycare.

Not every dog enjoys, or thrives in, a busy daycare environment. Some prefer a quieter day with a small number of dogs, a comfy sofa, plenty of garden time, enrichment, walks, and naps.

It’s also a great option during the warmer months. Instead of spending the day in a large group, your dog can relax in a home environment, enjoy the garden, dip in and out of play, and stay cool inside when the heat picks up.

Deal Dog Club is designed for dogs who are happiest with a more personal experience. Whether they’re a little older, easily overwhelmed, or simply prefer a calmer pace, they’ll be treated as part of the family while they’re here.

⚠️ Extreme Heat Weather Warning ⚠️

This week I will be taking it by the hour and seeing how hot it gets in the grooming room.
If you would rather re arrange your appointment for an evening or early morning - I am more than happy to do this and work as late or as early as needed . Please message me .
DO NOT WALK YOUR DOGS TO ME UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
If you walk your dog to your appointment I will send you home . If you can’t get to me safely , call me and we will re arrange .
Your dogs health comes first over any groom .

✨Change to my working hours ✨

From September there will be a change to the way I run my diary .
I will be working Monday to Friday during school hours & i will be working only ONE Saturday per month.

This is due to my youngest starting school - I don’t know where the time has gone! 😢

Please only book a Saturday appointment if you really can not make a week day.
There will be a limited number of evening appointments available per month at special request.

Please Note : My books are closed - I can not take on any new customers .
For my current Dogs - I am booking from end of June/beg July at the moment . If you haven’t booked your next appointment then you need to do it ASAP. My youngest starts school in September , so I won’t be doing any over time to fit dogs in between now and then as I want to spend as much time with her as possible before I loose her to big school 🥹

⚠️ The Grooming Room is now closed until Tuesday as its Brighton Marathon weekend ! 🏃‍♀️ ⚠️
Thank you soo much to everyone who has supported me over the last 3/4 months - training for this marathon whilst running my little business and being Mummy has been a challenge to say the least but tomorrow is the day and I can’t wait. I’m sure all the stress and exhaustion will be worth it 😬
