Why is it that horse wormers aren’t flavoured nice for horses!???? It drives me mad! In this day and age you’d have thought they could do something to make the job easier and nicer for the horses!! 😤😤😤

We can’t go without worming from time to time and even when you have practiced with nice flavours you have to give them the wormer that Evidently tastes like 💩

So no matter how much prep they know when it’s the wormer.

Connection!…

Recently, I had a moment with a horse that really made me think about what we mean when we talk about connection with our horses.

I often hear people say:

“I want a better connection with my horse.”

“My horse just doesn’t want to connect with me.”

But read that again…

We want the horse to connect with us.

Why is it the horse’s responsibility to connect with the human?

How about we learn to connect with the horse?

And that raises a much bigger question…

What even is connection to a horse?

What does connection mean to them?
How do they experience it?
What does it look like?

Because horses are actually incredibly good at connecting with each other.

So watch them.

What does that connection look like between horses?

We need to start asking ourselves these questions if we genuinely want a deeper relationship with them.

Connection isn’t simply caring for them, feeding them, grooming them and telling them how lovely they are. Rapport is absolutely part of it — but connection goes deeper.

Connection to a horse is synchronicity.

Moving together.
Thinking together.
Responding to one another.
Being aware of each other.

Not one individual constantly asking and the other constantly responding, but two beings becoming aware of each other and finding a rhythm together.

Maybe instead of asking…

“Why won’t my horse connect with me?”

…we should be asking:

“How can I become someone my horse can connect with?”

On my horsemanship clinics and lessons we work just like that! It’s horse sense!

Liberty clinic highlights! Sadly i didn’t get many pictures! Because we were all having too much fun learning! 6 lovely students and their horses all with different levels. What was amazing was to see all the relationships grow! I’m felt very proud of each and everyone of them. Everyone, got way further along than they thought. It’s a pleasure to give people the confidence to play, learn, make mistakes, isolate and recombine exercises. If we don’t try and be willing to make mistakes we never learn! Well done ladies! 🎉 It was all mares for this one!

This week is a busy week painting stables! A job that has been on the list a little too long. It’s a big task! But we are doing our best to get it done. It’s not just for the look it’s about the horses having clean fresh stables. It just looks nice…. Andy’s NLE clinic in French Classical schooling. Some great fun and progress made by all. A couple of pictures from the weekend. Firstly Emma and Sev the PRE. Emma worked on lunging and changes of balance between high and light to neck extension in walk and trot. As well as some counter shoulder in. Really proud of them both!
Then we have Monika and her horse Arwen. Shire cross fell. Monika has recently started Arwen under saddle with me. This weekend saw the first ridden trot! As well as doing lunging.
All horses and riders played with flexions on the ground help the horse to raise the base of the neck, in a high and light position. Then starting some bend flexions both left and right.
I’m very proud of all the riders and horses. Sadly don’t have any pictures of the others. All people came out of their comfort zones and took a great step forward in their training and confidence.
Thank you for trusting me! I really can not wait to see you all blossom!! 🌸
