We want to make all our lovely customers aware that canine parvovirus (Parvo) is believed to be circulating, with 3 positive cases now reported. The Manxman / Scar Path area is currently believed to be affected.

Parvo is a highly contagious and potentially life-threatening virus, particularly dangerous for puppies and unvaccinated dogs. Please take extra precautions to help keep your pups safe. πŸΎπŸ’œ
𝐏π₯𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 π«πžπ¦πžπ¦π›πžπ« : ANY dog can contract parvovirus, even if they are fully vaccinated. Vaccination significantly reduces the risk of infection and helps protect against severe illness, giving your dog a much better chance of fighting the virus.

🚨 Symptoms to look out for include:

🐾 Vomiting
🐾 Diarrhoea, particularly severe or bloody diarrhoea
🐾 Lethargy, weakness or unusual tiredness
🐾 Loss of appetite
🐾 Fever or unusually low body temperature
🐾 Abdominal pain or discomfort
🐾 Dehydration

❗ 𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄 πƒπŽ ππŽπ“ ππ‘πˆππ† π˜πŽπ”π‘ πƒπŽπ† π“πŽ πƒπ€π˜π‚π€π‘π„ πˆπ… π“π‡π„π˜ π’π‡πŽπ– π€ππ˜ πŽπ… 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐒𝐄 π’π˜πŒππ“πŽπŒπ’ – 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍 𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 πŽππ„.

If your dog is showing any signs of illness, please keep them at home, away from other dogs, and contact your vet for advice. If Parvo is suspected, call your vet before attending so they can take the necessary precautions.

🧼 How you can help protect your pups:

β€’ Keep vaccinations up to date and check your dog’s vaccination status with your vet.
β€’ Avoid areas where cases are suspected, and keep your dog away from dog faeces.
β€’ Clean and disinfect suitable surfaces, footwear, leads and other items that may have been contaminated, using a product effective against parvovirus and following its instructions.
β€’ Practise good hygiene after walks and contact with other dogs.
β€’ Monitor your dog closely for any changes in their health.

Parvo can survive in the environment for a long time, and ordinary household disinfectants may not be effective against it.
