‼️ Attention Dog Owners ‼️
The festive period can be hazardous to our doggy friends. Please read below some of the common hazards and how to avoid
🐶 Food and Drinks
Many of the delicious foods we indulge in at Christmas are very harmful to dogs. These include chocolate, Christmas puddings, mince pies, macadamia nuts, onions, bones, blue cheese and mouldy foods, artificial sweetened foods, alcohol and grapes. please contact us immediately for advice if you dog has consumed any of these.
🐶 Festive Foliage
Many of the greenery we decorate our homes with can be harmful to our dogs. These include Poinsettia, Ivy, Misteltoe, Lilies and Potpurri. Keep these out of reach of your dog or consider artificial versions or alternatives.
🐶 Decorations
Some decorations can cause issues with cheeky dogs who like to chew. Pine needles on real trees can cause injury to skin and upset stomachs when consumed - consider an artificial tree or sweep under the tree regularly. Glass baubles are hazardous when smashed so consider more durable plastic versions. Tinsel and ribbons and cause obstructions if eaten so consider pet friendly alternatives. Fairy lights and candles pose a risk of burns - consider keeping them out the way of dogs or only use under supervision.
🐶 Gifting
Do not leave children's toys out that your dog may chew or eat, toys of various shapes, sizes and materials can cause blockages in your dogs gastrointestinal tract and require surgical removal. Batteries when consumed can cause burns and metal toxicity so keep out of your dogs reach.
