🐾 Does your dog struggle to switch off — no matter how much you seem to do with them?

More walks, more play, more exercise… and they’re STILL looking for something to do? 😩

It might not be about doing more.

Your dog might simply need the right kind of enrichment.

But enrichment has become one of those dog-training buzzwords that can make something really simple sound bloody complicated! 😂

It doesn’t need to be.

At my Dog Enrichment Seminar, I’ll explain what enrichment actually means and show you simple, practical ways you can use it to make a real difference to your dog’s everyday life.

It was my most successful seminar last year, so I’m bringing it back! 🐕💚

🐕 Does your dog have a great recall… until there’s actually something interesting around? 😂

You call them.

Nothing.

Call again.

Still nothing.

Then suddenly you’re standing in a field wondering whether your dog has completely forgotten their own name. 😩

A really good recall isn’t just about repeatedly shouting “COME!”

One of the things I want my dogs to learn is that keeping track of me is their responsibility too.

In this video, I’m out in the woods with Breeze showing you one really simple exercise I use to encourage exactly that.

No constantly calling her.

No nagging.

No complicated training routine.

Just movement, distance, choice and rewarding Breeze when she reconnects with me. 🐾

And as you’ll see… even Breeze gets distracted while I’m trying to record the bloody video. 😂

If your dog’s recall isn’t reliable yet, use a long training line and keep them safe while you practise.

Give it a go on your next walk and let me know how you get on. 💚

An interesting discussion today following another tragic incident involving a dog.

I’m not convinced that continually adding more breeds to the banned list is the answer. I think there’s a much wider conversation to be had about education, responsible dog ownership, early support and how we prevent problems developing in the first place.

Calgary in Canada is an interesting example. Rather than banning particular breeds, its approach has focused on dog licensing, education, owner responsibility and enforcement. Confirmed dog bites fell from 621 in 1985 to 145 in 2008, while the city’s population grew from around 625,000 to over one million.

Research across Canadian municipalities has also found no significant difference in reported bite rates between areas with and without breed-specific legislation.

Perhaps the better question isn’t which breed we should ban next, but what we can learn from places that have taken a different approach.

Lastly, we're discussing whether we need to ban more dangerous dog breeds.

A man in Wakefield has died after being bitten by a German Shepherd.

While they're not banned, German Shepherds are often ranked among the most dangerous breeds.
