🐾 A little update from Pawfect Place ❤️ 🐾
This is a post I’ve been putting off writing because I know it may not be what everyone wants to hear, and I genuinely don’t want anyone to take it personally. But after a lot of thought, I have to make some changes to the types of dogs I accept for boarding in my home.
Over the last few months, my home and garden have taken a big hit from some destructive behaviour. I completely understand that accidents, stress and unexpected behaviours can happen. I’ve been doing this long enough to know that it comes with the job, and I would never expect dogs to behave perfectly all of the time. ❤️
However, the extent of some of the damage has now reached a point where I have to put some firmer boundaries in place to protect my home, my garden and, most importantly, the calm environment I work so hard to create for all the dogs staying with me.
🏡 Moving forward, I will be tightening up my boarding requirements:
🐶 Neutered/spayed dogs: I will no longer be accepting unneutered or unspayed dogs for new bookings, unless they are dogs who have previously stayed with me without any issues or concerns. These existing dogs will also need to remain on a solo boarding basis.
🐶 Severe separation anxiety: If your dog requires constant, 24-hour attention and cannot be left alone at all, unfortunately I can no longer guarantee that level of care. It isn't fair on the dog, it can have an impact on the other dogs staying here, and it can also cause disruption for my neighbours. I would rather be honest about what I can realistically provide than put a dog in an environment that isn't right for them.
🐶 Being left safely: Going forward, I will need dogs to either be crate trained or comfortable being left in their own bed with access to a safe area of the kitchen/living room when I need to leave the house briefly.
🐕 Walking & exercise
Please, please be honest with me about your dog's walking behaviour.
If your dog has no recall or has significant issues on the lead, particularly extreme pulling, I need to know beforehand. This doesn't necessarily mean I can't care for your dog, but it allows me to make the right arrangements, such as using a secure field where they can safely have their exercise without putting themselves, me or other dogs at risk.
I would much rather have an honest conversation before a booking than discover these things once your dog is already here. ❤️
I know this post may offend some people, and that genuinely isn't my intention. Pawfect Place is my home as well as my business, and I have invested so much time, love and money into making it a safe, happy and comfortable home-from-home for the dogs who stay here.
The damage I've had to deal with over the last few months has made me realise that something has to change. I simply can't continue accepting every dog when the impact on my home has become too much.
I want to continue providing the calm, personal and loving care that Pawfect Place is known for, and sometimes that means having to say no when a particular environment isn't the right fit.
