The Ash tree just outside the new play area has been diagnosed with dieback. This is a destructive fungal disease that causes leaf loss, bark lesions, and ultimately, the death of the crown.
Given it's close proximity to the play area and the risk of injury should any branches fall, the Trustees sought professional advice and submitted a planning application for permission to have the tree removed. This application has been fully approved.
Work commences on Monday 7th September by Fox and sons tree services.
If you are visiting the premises for any reason tomorrow, please be aware that this work is being carried out.
In our efforts to maintain the beautiful green surroundings at the Reading Room, the Trustees are considering whether it is appropriate to plant a new tree in a different location at the facilities subject to whether there is sufficient space to do so.
