🌞🐾 HOT WEATHER PET SAFETY 🐾🌞

As temperatures rise, it’s important to help our furry friends stay safe and comfortable.

🐶 Dogs can quickly overheat, especially during walks on hot pavements.
🐱 Cats may seem independent, but they still need cool spaces and plenty of fresh water.
🐰 Rabbits and small animals are particularly vulnerable to heat stress and need extra care during warm weather.

Remember:
💧 Keep fresh water available at all times
🌳 Provide plenty of shade and cool resting areas
🚗 Never leave pets in a parked vehicle
🌡️ Watch for signs of heatstroke, including excessive panting, lethargy, drooling, or collapse

This weekend is the perfect dog show weather…😂
I’ll be at the Stapeley grange one funday on Sunday. It’s 11-4pm but the dogshow is 1-3pm.
Come along with the pooches and say hi.
Classes are:
1. Prettiest bitch
2. Most handsome dog
3. Best trick
4. Best rescue
5. Best golden oldie
6. Cutest pup
7. Dog most like its owner
8. Best biscuit catcher
9. Waggiest tail

So work on your biscuit catching and tail wagging and come along 😉

It’s grass seed season!

I don’t think everyone is aware of the danger of grass seeds…

My own dog (Peanut) got a grass seed in his ear while sniffing. He was only a puppy then and needed to go under anaesthetic to have it removed.

I pull out numerous grass seeds every year, from dogs arm pits or between their toes, where they actually pierce the skin. Not only is that very uncomfortable at best, once they pe*****te the skin, grass seeds can travel in their body and cause infections and damage organs.

I also know of dogs that had grass seeds stuck in their eyes and nose. 😔

What can you do?

🐾 watch what your dog is sniffing and don’t let them near grass seeds
🐾 if they walk of lead, check the dog over after a walk
🐾 watch for new behaviours. Head shaking, excessive licking of a paw etc.
🐾 keep your dogs fur short, so you can see grass seeds before they get embedded
