🐾 **MORE CHANGES AT DOG HUB — INTRODUCING DOG HUB 360**

I’m constantly streamlining Dog Hub and looking at what dog owners actually want and need from a trainer.

And I’ve noticed something about my own sessions…

**I nearly always run over. šŸ˜‚**

Because once I start working with you and your dog, I don't just want to look at the one problem you booked me for.

I want to show you the **whole picture**.

How does your dog engage with you?

What are they like on a walk?

How are your lead skills?

What does their recall really look like?

Can they play with you?

Could they have more freedom?

How do they behave around other dogs and people?

Are you using the right equipment?

Could a different training method suit *you and your dog* better?

What are the little things I can see that could make everyday life together easier and more enjoyable?

That's why I'm introducing:

šŸ”µ **DOG HUB 360**

A **2-hour, in-depth experience with you and your dog** where we have the time to explore the whole picture.

This isn't just a behaviour assessment.

And it isn't two hours of me standing there talking at you.

**We're going to get out and do things.**

We'll walk. We'll train. We'll play. We'll practise lead skills and recall fundamentals. We'll look at engagement, communication and confidence. We can experiment with different equipment and different approaches and see what actually works for *your* dog.

And importantly, **your dog doesn't need to have a big problem.**

Maybe you've got a lovely dog but you've never trusted them off lead.

Maybe walks could simply be better.

Maybe you'd like more engagement.

Maybe you've used trainers before — or you're currently working with one — but you'd like another experienced pair of eyes.

Maybe you simply want to understand **why your dog does what they do.**

There is no judgement and no one-size-fits-all method.

At the end, you'll come away with a much better understanding of your dog, practical things we've already worked on together and your own **Dog Hub 360 report and game plan** explaining what I'd recommend moving forward.

And if the answer is *ā€œYou're doing great — keep doing what you're doingā€*, I'll tell you that too.

**Two hours. Your dog. The whole picture.**

🐾 **DOG HUB 360 — coming very soon.**

Crawley, West Sussex

I'll be releasing the first appointments shortly.

Some dogs have all their boxes ticked — off-lead freedom, time with other dogs, plenty of enrichment — and yet they can still pull, bark and lunge when they’re on lead.

Sometimes we can spend forever looking for the why. But sometimes the dog simply needs to understand: right now isn’t the time to meet that dog. Right now, I need you to listen to me.

In today’s session we worked around my dogs using the owner’s preferred front-clip harness — and made the equipment work for us.

The little details matter: body position, which side the lead sits, your setup, timing and being ready before you need it.

Then it’s about reps, reps, reps.

Calm behaviour = we move closer and potentially say hello.
Pulling, barking or lunging = we move away and reset.

Make mistakes, feel the good reps, learn the difference — then aim for more good reps than bad.

Great progress šŸ‘ŒšŸ¾

🐾 DOG HUB — SMALL PRICE UPDATE

Just a quick heads-up to all my lovely clients.

With the continued rise in fuel and general running costs, I’m having to make a small adjustment to services that involve travelling.

This will mainly affect home visits and Bootcamp services where I collect and return your dog.

I’ve always tried to keep Dog Hub reasonably priced and accessible, and my training prices will continue to reflect that. However, with the amount of driving involved in some appointments, I can no longer absorb all of the travel costs.

Field-based sessions and services where you bring your dog to me will remain the most cost-effective option.

Thanks as always for your understanding and continued support. 🐾

It’s difficult to understand what your dog is truly trying to communicate whilst being held on a lead .
But it’s also difficult to let your dog meet other dogs safely.
We have the answeršŸ‘šŸ½

Well done everyone who finished the 3 week lead skills course.
I made it very challenging for you Saturday. It’s easy to create wins. It feels good when everything goes smoothly.
But in the real world it’s not like that.
You all handled your dogs well.

**Are you exercising your dog… or fulfilling your dog?**

We often judge a good walk by how tired the dog is afterwards.

But I think there’s a better question:

**What does the exercise actually do to your dog?**

Dogs have been selectively bred for generations to perform particular jobs and sequences of behaviour.

A Springer was bred to search, hunt, flush and retrieve.

A herding dog was bred to observe movement, stalk, chase and control it.

A guardian breed was bred to watch, assess, protect space and then stand down when the situation was resolved.

A terrier was bred to search, pursue and get into things.

So simply triggering one exciting part of that sequence over and over again isn't necessarily fulfilling the whole dog.

Take ball throwing.

Your dog might absolutely LOVE it.

But watch what happens afterwards.

After 30 throws, does your dog look satisfied?

Do they have a drink, lie down and relax?

Or are they staring at the ball, pacing, whining, scanning for movement and desperately waiting for throw number 31?

**High arousal doesn't necessarily mean fulfilment.
Being exhausted doesn't necessarily mean satisfied.**

Sometimes we may accidentally keep triggering behaviours without allowing the dog to reach any sense of completion.

So start observing your dog after different activities.

Try searching and scent work.

Try retrieving with a beginning and an end.

Let them explore.

Give them appropriate opportunities to use the behaviours their breed was developed for.

And importantly, teach them when the activity is **finished**.

Then watch the dog afterwards.

The goal isn't always to create a dog that's too tired to cause trouble.

Sometimes the goal should be a dog that can say:

**ā€œJob done. Now I can switch off.ā€**

Understand the dog in front of you, understand what generations of breeding put into them, and exercise their brain as well as their legs.

I don’t believe in absolutes, meaning something is always good or bad.
The crate is debated by so many.

Can the crate be used inappropriately yes

Can the crate be a dogs safe space yes

I’m a big advocate for crate training.

We always have a crate up for emergency foster dogs ,if my dogs get injured etc etc, but none of my dogs have to go in a crate.
But every morning there are two empty beds and 2 of our dogs choose the crate.
