⚠️ Voluntary recall of all Years Fresh Meals

Years has announced a voluntary recall of all Years Signature Meals as a precaution, following a small number of reports of potential adverse eye reactions in dogs.

If you feed your dog Years meals, they advise:

Stop feeding them immediately, whether your dog has symptoms or not.

Do not feed the meals to any other animal, donate or sell them.

Watch for excessive blinking or squinting, pawing at the eyes, thick discharge or general eye discomfort.
If these symptoms occur and do not resolve within a few days, please contact your vet and mention the Years recall.

Years has paused subscriptions for six weeks while recipes are reformulated without buckwheat.

For the latest recall information, please check Years' official recall guidance. Link in comments.

Oakley looks incredibly proud of his six month puppy development certificate. 🐶

Did you know we offer complimentary puppy and kitten development checks up until they’re a year old?

We recommend them because everything is new for puppies and kittens, including coming into the practise. These checks help them get used to seeing us, keep their parasite control on up to date with regular visits and provide great socialisation. Plus our nurses are knowledgeable and can answer any questions you might have.

We are in for another hot week 🥵

Here are some tips to help you and your pets keep cool, at home.

DURING THE DAY
(When it's hotter outside than inside)

Shut the windows: Lock them tight as soon as the morning temperature starts to climb to seal in the cooler night air.

Drop the blinds: Pull curtains and blinds completely shut, especially on sun-facing windows. This blocks the radiant sun from turning your living room into a greenhouse.

AT NIGHT & EARLY MORNING
(When the outdoor air drops below indoor temps)

Open up for a cross-breeze: Open windows on opposite sides of the house to flush out the stale daytime heat.

The Fan Trick: Place a box fan facing OUTWARD in one window to forcefully push the trapped hot air out, drawing the crisp night air in from the other side.

PETS

🐶 Signs of heatstroke in dogs:
Heavy panting, drooling, bright red gums, lethargy, or confusion.

If you suspect your dog is overheating, get them wet (with the coldest accessible water) then get them to a vet.

🐱 Cats and heat stroke:
Cats can get heat stroke, but it’s rare because cats will generally limit physical exertion in hot weather. Symptoms can include lethargy, bright red or pale gums, drooling and confusion. Cats do not pant like dogs. Panting in cats is a sign of respiratory distress and/or stress. Seek immediate veterinary advice.

🐰 Rabbit hutches can turn into saunas:
Consider bringing rabbits and other small furries inside if they are usually kept outdoors. Ensure outdoor hutches have access to long runs that have shade the whole day. Be careful to not enclose the run to create shade with material that can instead cause the run to become a sauna.

🐀 Keep rat/hamster/other small furry pet cage out of direct sunlight:
Draw curtains or move to a spot that is 100% out of direct sunlight the whole day. Use chilled pebbles/tiles to lie on and shallow bowls with a few ice cubes or frozen peas for cooling off
