Tilgate Park is one of Crawley's most popular places with something for everyone. Lakes, forests, formal gardens, Tilgate Nature Centre, cafe, craft units, Go Ape, boating, mountain biking, outdoor gym and so much more. Tilgate Nature Centre is open from:

10am-4pm November to March

10am-6pm April to October

Please note that last entry is one hour prior to closing. Tilgate Nature Centre is closed on Christmas Day.

We're blown away by the LOVE shared during a very warm Love Your Zoo week over half term!
Here are just some of the submissions of our visitor's favourite animals; we are thrilled to see a variety of animals here! We all know perennial favourites like the meerkats, rabbits and guinea pigs are very popular, but it's nice to see the likes of the condor and cockroaches get some love too!

All this week, we have been sharing what our staff, volunteers and visitors LOVE about Tilgate Zoo! Last up, lead keeper Billie shares her thoughts on how working at Tilgate Zoo allows for personal growth and a chance to continuously develop the zoo itself too!
As the wider park approaches it's 60 year anniversary, Tilgate Zoo's future is exciting and we can't wait to see how we develop further over the years!

Tilgate Park turns 60 this year, and we’re celebrating with a special anniversary trail from 1 May to 31 August 2026.

Across the park, we’ve scattered a series of letters - from the lakeside to the gardens, the zoo, the cafés and all the places that make Tilgate Park so special. Follow the trail, find every marker, solve the final clue, and you’ll be able to enter our 60th Anniversary Prize Draw.

As part of the celebrations, we’re also inviting you to share your favourite moments in our Memories of Tilgate Park photo competition. Whether it’s a childhood adventure, a family tradition, or a quiet moment by the lake, we’d love to see the photos and stories that have shaped your connection to the park.

This week, we are sharing what we LOVE about Tilgate Zoo! Today, a local teacher shares why she finds visiting Tilgate Zoo with her students so valuable.
Connecting with nature through seeing animals up close can be so powerful and we LOVE being a resource for learners to grow and develop passion for nature and inspire them to strive to protect it.

Our Car Boot Sale is back on Sunday 21st June - that’s right, Father’s Day!

So drag the best dad out for a morning of treasure‑hunting and bargain-spotting at Tilgate Park.

It's the perfect way to start the day before lunch... and perhaps a trip around Tilgate Zoo! Buyers can park in the main car park as usual. The boot sale takes place in our coach car park which is directly adjacent to Tilgate's main car park.

☀️ Phew! It’s going to be a hot one this bank holiday weekend! Please keep hydrated and make use of the cover the trees provide if you’re in the park at any point this weekend.

The rest of the half term is set to be warm and sunny too (but hopefully not quite as roasting!) and we’ll be celebrating BIAZA’s Love Your Zoo week here at Tilgate Zoo. Join us for public talks, feeds and a Love Your Zoo trail all about collective nouns for animal groups. The ferrets are having fun with their answer already! Can you figure out what it says!?

Join us this half term for lots of holiday fun! Check the events board when you come in for talk times. We’re open every day 10am - 6pm with last entry at 5pm.

The ferrets hope to see you soon!
