Is Your Horses Back Dipping More Before Your Eyes…?

1- Do you have a horse with KS?
2-Do you have a horse with close spines?
3-Does your horse have a dipped back & lack topline?
Well, you may not know the answer to the first 2, unless you have had an x-ray
But you can see the third!
From a saddle fitting point of view in simple points…
If it’s not comfy or hurts your horse, they are likely to drop down away from the saddle, lack topline line, have a dropped back to belly.
When this happens the spines get closer.
The spines may touch = KISS = KISSING SPINES
If your horse naturally has close spines, the drop in the back may cause KS! (There may be other reasons)
FACT…
It has been shown that when a back is able to lift, the overall length of the spine can lengthen by 5CM!!!!
This is a lot!
That means the spaces between the spines open, this is what we all want.
So, not using a comfy, or well structured saddle means…
No/ reduced belly to back lift
No real push from behind
No/ reduced lengthening of stride
£&
Limited ability to work to develop a top line
Tension and tightness systemically
This is a real issues for so many horses, from happy hacker to competition horses in all disciplines.
If you have a ni**le act
If you just don’t know act
Don’t assume your older horse having a dropped back & belly is normal and healthily.
PLEASE get your saddle checked.
Help keep the spines open…!

Saddles are certainly NOT The/only cause of a horse developing KS, but they maybe and can contribute.
Work with your vets, body workers, farriers and saddle fitters as everything is interlinked!
