I am truly grateful for all of the support everyone has given since starting up in Cowes. Every booking, enquiry, like, comment, review or tag in a page really helps my little business to be seen ❤️

This business is my career, it’s not a hobby.

I’ve trained hard, built it up from scratch, and put so much work and money into this alongside being a mummy too!

But… it’s hard! It takes up a lot of time. Even when you aren’t grooming, you are - tidying, thinking about how to be seen locally, doing the taxes, answering messages and, worst of all for me, social media.

Social media is how small businesses are seen nowadays. It’s how I can show my reviews, my work, and keep everyone updated. But people only see what I’m posting if others are engaging with it (liking, sharing or commenting). Otherwise, posts can quickly disappear into the abyss!

Most of my posts are created by me, and sometimes it can feel like a lot of hard work for very few people to actually see them.

So if you enjoy my content, have used my services, or simply want to support a small local business, a like, comment, share or recommendation genuinely means the world. It costs nothing, takes just a few seconds, and makes a bigger difference than you probably realise ❤️

A big welcome to gorgeous Jess the Collie, who recently found her forever home and came in to see me for her very first groom 🐾💕

Her pawrents wanted to make sure she was comfortable and ready for the warmer weather, so our focus was on removing all loose dead coat to improve airflow through her coat, along with a gentle tidy-up all over.

Jess was understandably a little nervous, so we took things right back to basics. With her pawrent by her side for confidence, plenty of tasty treats, lots of encouragement, and a gentle positive approach, we worked at Jess’s pace every step of the way.

So proud of how well she did! 💛 Sometimes grooming isn’t about perfection—it’s about building trust, creating positive experiences, and helping dogs feel safe and confident. Jess absolutely smashed it, and with a little support, reassurance, and positive reinforcement throughout, she did amazingly well.

She is such a sweet soul and it’s lovely to see she has found her forever family

Lovely to meet gorgeous Zoey today for a little meet-and-greet session. 🐾

We’re taking things nice and slow to help her build confidence with having her nails done, as it’s never been her favourite thing. Today was all about treats, fusses, getting to know each other, and making the salon a positive place to be.

Gorgeous little Annie came in for a full groom and was such a good girl! Full of little sneezes and piggy snuffles which was cute 🥰

Wasn’t overly keen on her face being touched but we built some trust and did what we could

🐶🦷 Gentle dog dental care with Emmi-Pet 🦷🐶

I offer two types of toothbrushing as either a standalone or add-on service:

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗯𝗿𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 – best suited for maintenance and for dogs who are comfortable having their teeth brushed.

𝗘𝗺𝗺𝗶-𝗣𝗲𝘁 – an ultrasonic brushing system with no noise or vibration, making it a great option for nervous or sensitive dogs. With a bit of patience and regular sessions, it can help gradually reduce plaque build-up and support healthier gums over time.

Every dog is different, and results will vary, but consistency really is key when it comes to dental care 🐾

Did you know there are simple things you can do at home to help make grooming appointments less stressful for your dog? 🐾

For some dogs, the groomers can feel overwhelming at first — new smells, sounds and handling , but building positive experiences early can make such a difference 🩷

Here are 5 ways to help reduce anxiety at the groomers:
🐶 Walk or play before the appointment to burn off nervous energy
🐶 Keep the day calm and relaxed beforehand, no change or anything that will cause stress.
🐶 Start grooming young where possible, this makes such a difference and you can tell when a dog has been introduced early. Even if your dog doesn't need regular grooming it's still important for things like nail clipping!
🐶 Book intro sessions to build confidence slowly, I do these for free and they really help ease anxieties for owners and the dogs!
🐶 Stay relaxed at drop off — dogs pick up on our emotions too!

Every dog is different, and taking things at their pace can help them feel safe, comfortable and confident during their groom ✨

Merry Christmas to all of my followers 🎄✨

As many of you know,I moved in November and I’m so grateful that the move went smoothly.
While I’m excited for this next chapter, I can’t help but say how much I’m missing all of my wonderful customers — I think about you all often and really do miss seeing you all regularly 😭

Hi everyone,

As most of you already know ( I have tried to inform most of my regular customers in person!) , I’m moving house out of Gosport very soon, which means my last working day will be Tuesday 4th November. From Wednesday 5th November onwards all bookings will be cancelled and Hairy Mclarys will no longer be a Gosport business.

I just wanted to take a moment to say a huge thank you from the bottom of my heart. When I first started Hairy Mclarys, it was just a dream — something I hoped might one day come true. Thanks to all of your amazing support, loyalty and a lot of hard work and commitment you’ve helped make that dream a reality. 💛

Every wagging tail, every chat, and every bit of encouragement has meant so much to me. I’ve truly loved every minute of grooming your gorgeous dogs and being part of their lives — and yours too.
It’s bittersweet to say goodbye to Gosport , I’ll never forget how this little business grew because of all of you and the wonderful community here. 🐶✨
