It's finally the weather for painting!
We've been busy getting the sheds and new boarding hutch looking fab for Summer. Our guinea pig sheds have also had new underlay and felt installed ready for another wet winter to help keep everyone cozy after a few leaks last winter. We've still got plenty to finish off and another guinea pig shed to paint 🎨

The animals have been relaxing and keeping cool in the sun while we sweat away maintaining their home as always

OPEN DAY CANCELLED!

We are really sorry to announce that our Open day on May 4th has been cancelled due to a personal matter.

We have been working hard to prepare for this event and it has been a difficult decision to have to call it off. The team will be looking for an alternative date but due to our animal boarding diary it may be difficult to arrange this year. We will be looking to use the tombola prizes donated at other events we attend if an open day can not be arranged this year.

We are sorry for any inconvenience and disappointment 😞
Please share to make everyone aware that the rescue will not be taking visitors Bank Holiday Monday 4th May

Brave little Elvis came into rescue after suffering a serious eye injury that sadly required surgery to remove the eye. His previous owner was unable to afford the operation, and the only other option offered was euthanasia.
Thankfully, they made the incredibly difficult but compassionate decision to sign Elvis and his bonded brother, Mercury, over to the rescue so he could get the urgent veterinary care he needed to save his life.
Just 18 hours after arriving with us, Elvis was on the operating table undergoing surgery. We’re so happy to share that 5 days into recovery he is doing really well — taking his medication like an absolute champ and eating everything in sight!
He still has some healing ahead of him, and we’re also monitoring a sensitive male-part issue which may require further surgery if medical treatment isn’t successful 😬
At just 1 year old, we’re feeling hopeful that Elvis has many happy, healthy years ahead of him with his brother Mercury by his side ❤️

⚠️HAY YOU, WE NEED YOUR HELP! ⚠️
⚠️ HAY NEEDED! ⚠️

Please share and donate if you can!

We are running dangerously low on hay stock with there being a national shortage of baled hay all our normal sources are completely out. We were meant to have a delivery last week but sadly the seller didn't pull through and has left us hanging.
Guinea pigs and rabbits need hay as a crucial part of their diet to stay healthy and happy. Our rescue simply can't run without it!

Please use our wish list to help order the animals their favourite food: https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/2TZG46EVYCQDO?ref_=wl_share

If you have any contacts for someone who has bales available within a reasonable distance please let us know too!

Thank you everyone the animals always appreciate your support 🐰🐹

Animal Loving Volunteers Wanted! 🐾

Small Animal Rescue Coventry (SARC) is 100% volunteer-run by Nicole and Amy. We care for all our animals around full-time work and need extra help at weekends with full clean-outs.
With multiple guinea pig herds, hutches, rabbit pens, and boarding animals, weekends can be very busy alongside rehoming and intakes.

We’re looking for reliable, hardworking volunteers to help clean out rabbit and guinea pig enclosures on a weekly basis.
⚠️ This is a hands-on, messy role (wee and p**p included!) — animal welfare always comes first, so it’s not just cuddles.

Volunteer Info: Age 16+ only Saturdays or Sundays, 10am–3pm (day confirmed during the week) Stay as little or as long as you like Lunch break around 12:30pm for volunteers helping for the full day

You’ll also be around our own cats who like to make friends with new volunteers and our aviary birds.
SARC is run by just the two of us alongside our wonderful volunteer team so we truly appreciate any help. We’re friendly, supportive, and welcome anyone willing to get stuck in.
Toilet and refreshments available 😊
