💔 In Memory of Raven 💔
This is a post we never imagined we’d be writing and, without a doubt, one of the hardest.
This week, we said goodbye to our beautiful Raven.
At just two years old, it feels so desperately unfair that such a beautiful soul was taken so soon. Our hearts are broken for her mam and dad, who loved her more than words could ever describe. Raven was one of those dogs who leaves a mark on your heart forever.
As a Cane Corso, people often had preconceived ideas about what she might be like. The reality couldn’t have been further from the truth. Beneath her powerful appearance was the softest, gentlest soul you could ever imagine. She wanted everyone to be her best friend. She had to be involved in absolutely everything, and if you dared stop stroking her for even a second, she would cry as though the world was ending until the attention resumed😆 She was funny, affectionate, gentle, sensitive, the definition of a gentle giant, and completely impossible not to adore.
Over the last two years, we’ve been lucky enough to watch her grow, make so many memories with her, and love her as one of our own. We’ve laughed at her quirks, cuddled her endlessly, celebrated her wins and, over the last couple of weeks, cried more tears for her than I can put into words. Every member of our team adored her more than words can say, and there is a huge hole left behind without her.
Our hearts are completely broken, but we take comfort in knowing that she left this world exactly as she lived in it - completely adored and surrounded by love. Last weekend, before she left us, our whole team went to spend some time with Raven and say our goodbyes. We sat with her, cuddled her, shared stories and memories, and got to tell her just how much we loved her. Those moments feel incredibly precious, and they are memories we will treasure forever.
We are incredibly lucky to work with so many amazing dogs, and every single one of them means the world to us. But every now and then, a dog comes along that simply feels like your soul dog. A dog that isn’t yours, but somehow feels like they are. A dog that can make you smile on your very worst day. A dog that you feel so deeply connected to. Thank you, Raven, for being that dog for me. Thank you for every lazy cuddle at pick-up. Every slobbery kiss. Every dramatic demand for attention. Every laugh, every memory, and every smile you brought to our faces. Thank you for letting us love you.
You were truly one in a million, and there will never be another quite like you.
Run free, beautiful girl. I hope you’re causing absolute chaos up there, and I hope they know just how lucky they are to have you, because we’d give anything to have had more time with you here💔
