The team at Dick Vet Hospital for Small Animals is currently looking for kind canine blood donors to help support dogs in need. The next donation session will take place on 21 June at the Small Animal Hospital.

Now you’ve heard the saying good things come in small packages… well let me introduce you to Mabel, aka the latest wee girl to absolutely steal my heart 🩷💕

What a wee darling she is, with more personality packed into that tiny body than some humans manage in a lifetime. Every bit of it was heart-melting.

Firstly, let’s talk about her appetite!!!! She could put a Labrador to shame without breaking a sweat. From 3pm onwards, she’d start politely reminding me that dinner was only two hours away… just in case I’d somehow forgotten 🤣 If the kitchen door so much as creaked open, she was through it faster than a burglar with insider information.

Once her food was getting dished out, this wee athlete could bounce to near counter height like she was training for the Doggy Olympics. Honestly, the excitement was something to behold. Very relatable, to be fair. Food then disappeared in approximately 1.00001 seconds 🤣

Now her cuddles… elite level cuddles. She’d coorie in, usually under the blanket, and look as content as a queen in a heated throne room. Tiny dog, massive snuggle game.

She was always ready for a wee play, and her and Charlie even interacted on the odd occasion — but if she had to choose, a cuddle and a chill was definitely her preferred lifestyle.

Our car journeys also came with their own soundtrack… a wee song I named The Mabel Melody 🎵 A chart-topper in the making.

Out on walks, she was brilliant. Always by my side and walking perfectly to heel. “Oh wow, how well trained she is,” I thought… then quickly followed by, “Aww, the wee soul absolutely loves me.”

Turns out it was suggested she may simply be loyal to the hand that feeds her. I was gutted 🤣 Nothing says humbling like realising the true love story was actually between Mabel and the treats in my pocket.

Mabel is a wee diamond, and if I could’ve kept her and got away with it, I absolutely would have 🥰 Her space will always be free under my blanket, where she clearly belonged 🩷💕

For now, I'm just taking a little pause from any new bookings/dogs, but all current bookings and familiar faces are being welcomed with lots of excitement as always 💛

Beautiful Belle came back for a sleepover, and although it had been a little while since her last visit, she took roughly three seconds to settle in — like a fluffy princess returning to her favourite get away.

Belle is such a gentle sweetheart, especially for a girl of her size (with paws that could comfortably wrestle a lioness). All she wanted was to stay close by my side and collect cuddles like they were her full-time job. She’s also a proper wee blether, always ready for a chat, and a soulful singer who prefers to share her thoughts in dramatic ballad form.

Her table manners were absolutely impeccable — delicate, polite, and honestly better than many humans I could name. It was adorable to watch. She absolutely loved her walks… but her true passion in life appears to be muddy puddles 🤣🤣 I was just thankful I managed to avoid being dragged in after her 😂

Belle is beautiful inside and out. Every dog she met adored her, and even the non-dog humans somehow found themselves completely enchanted 😍

See you soon, Belle — and hopefully not after such a long gap next time 🩷💕

For now, I’m taking a little pause from any new bookings and new dogs, but all current bookings and familiar furry faces are still being welcomed with the usual excitement, cuddles, and questionable levels of enthusiasm from me 💛

Smiler was back and honestly, the house has never known such charisma.

He arrived with his trademark Angus swagger, full bum wiggle engaged, and a smile that could talk you into bad decisions. If he hadn’t been born a dog, he’d have been the cutest wee teddy bear on the market 🧸

Apparently he’s on a healthy kick because the vet suggested he was overweight. I strongly dispute this claim. Angus is not overweight… he is luxurious. Solid. A pup of substance.

He’s always popular on his walks and I’m convinced he’d be the perfect wingman for me… if I wasn’t trailing behind him dressed like a dog-walking bag lady carrying poo bags and shame 🤣

He is also partial to a wee roll in “stuff.” Any stuff. Mystery stuff. Questionable stuff. If it’s on the ground, Angus believes it should be worn immediately. A true champion stuff roller.

When he stays, the heating goes off because he’s basically a furry hot water bottle with legs that never cools down 😍

See you at the end of the month Angus… Charlie misses you when you’re away living your glamorous double life at your other home 🤣🤣

We recently had the lovely Finn back to stay with us, and he really is such a special little character. After a quick “inspection” of the house (just to make sure everything was as he remembered!), he soon settled in and made himself right at home.

He’s a super affectionate wee soul and didn’t take long to find his favourite spot—snuggled in between Charlie and me 🥰

When he’s not enjoying cuddles, he’s full of energy and loves a good run around. A proper little athlete at heart, especially when there’s a ball involved! During one of our park visits, the heavens suddenly opened with a flurry of hailstones—no doubt feeling like little boulders from the sky to a dachshund! We took shelter in the park café and had a cosy cuddle until it passed. Back home, the zoomies that followed were very entertaining to watch 😂

And of course, he’s never too far away if treats are on offer… funny that 😉
