Peter Dinklage asked Game of Thrones fans to stop buying huskies to look like direwolves. Shelters were filling up with the ones people gave up on. 🐺🐕❤️

Dinklage issued the appeal through PETA, warning that impulse buys from breeders and pet shops were being abandoned once owners realised how much work a husky actually is. He asked fans to always adopt from an animal shelter instead.

The same pattern followed 101 Dalmatians, Beverly Hills Chihuahua and Legally Blonde, where screen popularity drove a breed boom and then a wave of surrenders. Dinklage, a longtime vegetarian, adopted his own dog and has campaigned against puppy mills and the fur trade.
