Lots of cytology testing this week!

Cytology Testing for ovulation is the best way to determine the optimum time to breed your female dog. It is done by a simple, painfree swab which collects the cells and is then examined under a microscope.

This allows us to see if your female is at the begging stages, in ovulation or past ovulation. We can also pick up signs of infection and bladder worms in doing this simple test!

Common Reasons for Hair Thinning or Hair Loss

✔ Hormonal Changes

From the 18th March - Dogs (Protection Of Livestock) (Amendment) Act 2025 came into force in England and Wales introducing key changes to the law which include -

🐑 Unlimited Fines: The previous maximum fine of £1,000 has been removed, allowing courts to issue unlimited fines.

🐖 Wider Scope: The definition of livestock now explicitly includes camelids (alpacas/llamas) in addition to sheep, cattle, goats, pigs, horses, and poultry.

🐄 Police Powers: Police can seize and detain dogs suspected of worrying livestock and enter premises to obtain DNA evidence.

🐓 More Locations: The law applies to public footpaths, roads, and bridleways, not just private fields

Please ensure whilst walking near livestock regardless of how "friendly" or "well trained" your dog(s) are - keep them on lead at all times!
