🎂🐾 Happy Birthday, Bruce! 💛

Yesterday, this handsome boy celebrated his birthday here at Assisi — and judging by his reaction to his birthday cake, we think he had a pretty brilliant day! 😂🎂

But there’s one very special present Bruce would love more than anything… his very own forever home. 💛

Bruce is a clever, toy-loving Jack Russell who takes a little time to trust new people. He’s happiest with a quiet walk, a comfy bed, his favourite toys and the company of someone he knows and loves.

He’s still waiting for his special someone to come along, and we’re really hoping that by this time next year, Bruce will be celebrating his birthday surrounded by a family of his own. 🥹🐾

Could you be the person Bruce has been waiting for?

Find out more about Bruce at https://www.assisi-ni.org/animals/bruce/
or get in touch with our team to learn more about adopting him. 💛

Helping your new best friend settle in 🐾❤️

We’re delighted to be collaborating with Paw by Four to offer our adopters access to Your Rescue Dog’s First 30 Days — a practical guide to help you navigate those important first weeks together.

From decompression and understanding body language to building trust and creating a predictable routine, the guide is designed to help make the settling-in period a little easier for both you and your new family member.

Our adopters will receive a QR code to access and download the guide, so you can keep it handy and refer back to it throughout those first 30 days.

Less pressure. More patience. Lots of little wins. 🐾

Because every rescue dog settles at their own pace — and sometimes, understanding what they’re experiencing can make all the difference. ❤️

💛 PLAN FOR YOUR FUTURE. HELP US PLAN FOR THEIRS. 💛

Our animals need us today — and they’ll need us tomorrow too.

That’s why this October, Assisi Animal Sanctuary is taking part in Organise Your Will, encouraging people to make or update their Will and take an important step towards planning for the future.

As part of the campaign, participating solicitors are offering a basic Will or pair of basic Wills without their usual fee, with clients invited to make a donation to Assisi instead.

Your donation will help us continue providing the essentials our animals need — from food and warm beds to veterinary care, safe accommodation and the time they need to rehabilitate and find their new beginnings.

The campaign is also an opportunity to learn more about how planning ahead can support the causes that matter to you. If, after looking after your loved ones, you choose to remember Assisi in your Will, your support could help vulnerable and abandoned animals for years to come.

But first, organise your Will. 💛

💛🐾 FOUND STRAY CAT – ARDOYNE 🐾💛

This handsome boy was recently found as a stray in the Ardoyne area and has been handed into Assisi. 💛

He isn’t microchipped and appears to be unneutered, so we’re hoping someone might recognise him.

📍 Found in Ardoyne

If you recognise him or have any information that could help us find his owner, please send us a DM.

Please share to help us reach the right person. 🐾💛

💛🐾 WORKING TOGETHER FOR ANIMAL WELFARE 🐾💛

Representatives from Assisi were delighted to attend Causeway Coast Dog Rescue’s fourth Animal Welfare Conference today at Parliament Buildings, Stormont.

It was a great opportunity to come together with organisations and individuals who share a commitment to improving animal welfare and to discuss how we can work together to help drive meaningful legislative reform across Northern Ireland.

At Assisi, we believe that working together and sharing our experiences is an important part of creating lasting change for animals. 🐾💛

A huge well done to everyone involved in organising another important conference and for keeping animal welfare firmly on the agenda.

Together, we can make Northern Ireland a better place for animals. 🐾💛

🐾 EDUCATION SUNDAY: Let’s talk about microchipping!

A microchip might be tiny — about the size of a grain of rice — but it could make a huge difference if your pet ever goes missing.

🐾 What is a microchip?

A microchip is a tiny chip placed under your pet’s skin by a vet or trained implanter. It contains a unique identification number which is linked to your contact details on a database.

💛 Why does it matter?

Collars can slip off and tags can become damaged or fade, but a microchip provides a permanent form of identification.

If your pet goes missing and is found, a vet, rescue organisation or council can scan their microchip and, if your details are up to date, contact you quickly.

📋 What does the law say in Northern Ireland?

🐶 Dogs must be microchipped and registered on a database, and microchipping is also a requirement for a dog licence.

🐱 Cats aren't currently legally required to be microchipped in Northern Ireland, but we strongly recommend it.

📱 Keep your details up to date

A microchip is only as useful as the information linked to it.

Remember to update your database record if you:

• Move house
• Change your phone number
• Rehome your pet

Good to know:

🐾 Microchipping is quick and is much like a routine injection.

🐾 A microchip doesn't track your pet — it simply contains their unique ID number.

🐾 If you adopt a pet from Assisi, every cat and dog is rehomed with an up-to-date microchip and the correct registration details.

A few minutes today checking your pet's microchip details could make all the difference if they ever become lost. 💛

When was the last time you checked that your pet’s microchip details were up to date?

A big thank you to Guy at Larkin Tree Care for supporting Assisi at our Conlig site recently. 💛🐾

Guy generously volunteered his time to cut back trees and hedges, strim around the site, and tackle some much-needed outdoor work — as well as donating a load of woodchip too.

There was plenty to get through, and his help came at a time when our team really needed an extra pair of hands. His time, skills, and resources made a real difference to our site and, ultimately, to the animals in our care.

This is a great example of what corporate support can look like. It doesn’t always have to be a financial donation — sometimes it’s about sharing the skills, expertise, time, or resources your business already has.

We’re incredibly grateful to Guy and Larkin Tree Care for supporting Assisi in such a practical way. Thank you! 💛

If your business would like to explore how you could support Assisi through your skills, services, resources, employee volunteering, or fundraising, we’d love to hear from you.

💛🐾 SAY HELLO TO SOME NEW FACES AT ASSISI! 🐾💛

We’ve got some gorgeous new faces settling into life at Assisi, and we thought it was time to introduce a few of them! 🥰

They’re getting to know our team, settling into their new surroundings and having their individual assessments so we can learn more about each of them and what they’ll need from their future homes. 🏡💛

Some may be ready to start looking for their forever families soon, while others need a little more time.

Keep an eye on www.assisi-ni.org/adopt/ for updates and to see which of our residents are ready to find their new families. 🐾

And who knows… your next furry family member might just be one of these new faces. 💛

Welcome to , gorgeous ones! 🐾💛
