I will always advocate for the dogs I care for.
Let me set the scene.
I walk onto the field, the sweet boy I'm with is on lead, as we come around the corner we're met by an off lead dog fifteen feet or so away. We stop. Wait for the owner, who's at the opposite side of the field to call their dog back. This doesn't happen and the dog starts to move closer, hackles raised, and barking, it's lowered itself into a crawl at this point. I shout "Can you get your dog please." At the top of my voice and put myself between the on coming dog and the dog I'm walking. It took around FIVE minutes of my shouting and the dog circling us for the owner to come and get their dog! Luckily the very sweet boy I was with is simply unsure on how to interact with other dogs and isn't actually aggressive!
But now I'm left wondering if I should have done something differently?
As a dog owner or walker how do you deal with these kinds of situations?
This wasn't the first time and unfortunately I know it won't be the last!
