We can definitely feel the shift to Autumn and that means its an excellent time to get tracking and trailing!

Come and join a Halloween special- get dressed up, solve the Halloween puzzles, avoid the tricks and earn yourself (and your dog) some treats.

November and December evenings give us opportunities for some cracking trailing- we will be mixing it up adding in more urban opportunities, and hopefully trailing under the Christmas lights.

Weekend sessions will give us the opportunity to explore new areas around the peak district.

As we welcome back the cooler Autumn weather I am super excited to get back to regular trailing sessions and I have lots of fun sessions planned.

Join me on a progression session where you can work on your tracking and trailing skills. Sign up for Ace of Trails and you can work to collect a full deck of cards as you build your trailing skills.

Autumn brings new locations with sessions running in the Peak District, as well as on the Cheshire/Staffordshire border.

We will also be running Halloween themed trailing sessions on 27th and 31st October. There will be Halloween themed trails and prizes for best Halloween costumes!

Interested in playing Ace of Trails but not sure what is involved??

Start by finding an Ace of Trails trailmaster like me! If you aren't local to me check out Georgia & Luke | Trailing, Tracking & Dog Walking for details of other Trailmasters

Sign up for Ace of Trails and collect your folder which sets out all the requirements for each level. It also includes session record sheets to record progress and set future goals. 

Join a trailing session and complete specific training challenges to achieve the relevant cards. The challenges can be adapted for tracking, trailing and mantrailing teams. You can only collect a maximum of 2 cards per session.

Once you have collected all the cards for the level you are working towards, you will be ready to complete your assessments to complete the level.

You can then start working towards the next level with 4 levels to work through to collect a full deck of cards.

I was super excited to introduce two teams to Ace of Trails this evening. Team Klaus and Team Ella put their best paws forward to start collecting their cards.

Loved seeing the enthusiasm to pick challenges to work towards in upcoming sessions. Its great to have a structured progression system for teams to work towards.

I am so excited to be a certified Ace of Trails Trailmaster and to be bringing Ace of Trails to Cheshire, Staffordshire and the Peak District this Autumn.

Ace of Trails is a structured, gamified progression system designed for trailing and tracking teams. It is a competitive game that celebrates individual progress through challenges and assessments.

The Ace of Trails system is based on a standard deck of cards, where the aim is to earn a full deck of cards as you work through the levels.

Keep an eye out for more details later this week on how you can earn cards and progress through the levels.

OUTDOOR CANINE FIRST AID

Are you working as a dog care professional?

Have you attended a canine first aid course taught in a classroom or online but still feel unprepared should an incident occur??

Then this course is for you!!

Dogs are rarely going to injure themselves seriously in the home or garden where getting them to professional help & the vets is easier.

As we hit heatwave number 5 (!!!) of 2026 I have had lots of people asking if we are still trailing this summer.

It isn't a straightforward answer- it depends on how hot it is, humidity levels and whether we can adapt sessions and adjust plans.

One of the best things we can do is keep the dogs cool in the car between their turns- aluminet sheets, fans and plenty of water can help.

Adjusting session plans to trail in the coolest part of the day and using shady venues like forests can help.

But sometimes it is just too hot and we have to postpone sessions- bored dogs are better than overheated dogs.
