The mystery animal reveal is here… Meet our incredible Hamadryas Baboon!

Known for their striking silver manes and fascinating social groups, Hamadryas baboons are one of the most recognisable primates in the world.

Adult males develop impressive cape-like fur around their shoulders, making them look almost lion-like! 🦁

Here are a few fun facts about these amazing primates:

🐾 Hamadryas baboons live in large family groups called troops
🐾 They use over 30 different vocal sounds to communicate with each other
🐾 Their tough cheek pouches let them store food while foraging
🐾 They are highly intelligent and spend lots of time grooming and socialising

🥩🐆 Patience is a superpower in the wild!

The Amur leopard is one of nature’s most patient predators. Instead of chasing prey straight away, these elusive big cats will often spend hours silently stalking through forests, carefully watching and waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

Using their incredible camouflage, they blend almost perfectly into their woodland surroundings. Every step is slow, quiet, and calculated, helping them get as close as possible without being detected.

Their usual diet in the wild includes deer, hares, and wild boar, and because food can be difficult to find in the harsh snowy forests they call home, every hunt counts.

This remarkable hunting strategy is just one of the many reasons the Amur leopard is such an extraordinary species and why protecting them is so important.

With fewer than 100 remaining in the wild, conservation efforts are vital to their survival.

Have you ever spotted our Amur leopards Anik and Luna relaxing in the sunshine during your visit?

It's sea lion birthday weekend!

On Friday our older boy Morgan turned 24 and today Crusoe is turning 16!

Out in the wild a male sea lion would only expect to reach 15 so we can now call both our boys "old". Obviously life is much easier here at the park so they are expected to live longer in human care.

Most sea lions have their birthdays in June. In the wild safety, in numbers protects them from predators as they learn to swim when they are just a few weeks old.

Morgan is the one with the fish in his mouth :)

Today is World Environment Day, a global reminder that every action we take can help protect the natural world for future generations. 🌿

At Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park, conservation and education are at the heart of everything we do. From caring for endangered species such as our Amur Leopards to inspiring young explorers through daily animal presentations, we're proud to play our part in helping people connect with wildlife and understand why protecting our planet matters.

Did you know? Many of the species in our care face challenges in the wild due to habitat loss, climate change, and human activity. By learning about these incredible animals, we can all become part of the solution.
