RSPCA Essex Mid & North Branch We deal with all animal welfare issues in a large area of Essex. We have charity shops in Frinton on Sea, Chelmsford & Colchester (Prettygate).

We rescue and rehome animals and provide low cost veterinary help in clinics at Chelmsford & Colchester. We rely on donations, local fundraising and legacies to support our work with animal welfare in our branch area. Our new Branch area incorporates the former areas of Mid Essex, Essex North East and Essex North West, covering the towns of Colchester, Clacton, Chelmsford, Maldon, Brentwood, Bille

ricay, Braintree, Dunmow, Halstead & Witham. We also have 2 veterinary clinics in Great Baddow & Colchester. We provide the following
- Pet neutering scheme for people on certain government benefits.
- Subsidised veterinary clinic in Colchester and Chelmsford.
- Homecheck service to the RSPCA animal centres.
- Rehoming of some cats and dogs.
- Pet advice and guidance for local people.
- Community animal action events in conjunction with local RSPCA inspectors and vets e.g. microchipping, neutering, worm and flea treatments. Clinics

To be a client of the RSPCA Essex Mid & North Branch you will need to:
- live within our catchment area
- be a tenant
- not use animals for breeding and be in receipt of one of the following:
- Universal Credit / Incapacity Allowance / Income Support / JSA/ESA / State Pension. (plus Housing benefit which must be in the same name as benefit)

ID and proof of current address with a utility bill or a bank statement is needed. Register at the clinic in person between 12 noon and 2pm Monday to Thursday, with all necessary paperwork. Please note this is a LOW COST scheme, not a free veterinary service. We do charge a consultation fee and for any drugs used. Clinic Hours by appointment only:-
Mon, Tues and Thurs only 9 a.m. to 12.00, closed Fri, Sat, Sun and bank holidays

Meet our fourth judge for The Colchester Pet Awards, the wonderful Anna Drake, Branch Manager of the RSPCA Essex Mid & North Branch.

Anna is a very busy lady keeping things going over at the charity, so I'm very grateful to have her join the panel to help judge your, what have been so far, amazing and heartwarming entries.

With a career spanning OVER TWO DECADES (!!) in the animal sector, Anna spent 18 years as a Veterinary Nurse before transitioning into charity leadership.

She has such a deep commitment to animal welfare, which is clearly shown by her 12 years of international charity work alongside fellow veterinary professionals. Anna is absolutely dedicated to using her experience to improve the lives of animals on a full-time (plus some!) basis.

Thank you for joining us on the panel Anna, can't wait to judge with you!

This week, we want to say a huge THANK YOU to all of the incredible volunteers who support RSPCA Essex Mid & North Branch CIO.

From helping in our charity shops and supporting fundraising events, to assisting with animal care, fostering, transport, administration, and so much more – our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Their dedication, compassion, and generosity make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable animals across our community every single day.

Quite simply, we couldn't do what we do without them.

To each and every one of our volunteers: thank you for giving your time, sharing your skills, and helping us create a better world for animals. Your commitment enables us to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you do.
