Calm Creatures Workshop

Looking for something fun and a bit different for your school, club or group?

Our Calm Creatures workshops give children the chance to meet, handle and learn about some of our amazing animals.

- £165 for a 1.5-hour session
- Up to 30 children
- Choose up to 11 animals for your session
- Perfect for schools, clubs, youth groups & community groups

You can choose the animals you'd like us to bring, so every session can be a little different!

It's a lovely way for children to learn about animals, build confidence and enjoy some hands-on time with them.

Let's talk Therapy.

I'm Elicia and some of you may have already met me, I run Together Animal Assisted Therapy. In the last few years there's been a real push to talk about mental health and raising awareness, which is amazing. But I still think there is a stigma around therapy and all its forms. So here's a quick guide into what you need to know about therapy.

I know therapy can be daunting. Sometimes the idea of sitting down and opening up to a complete stranger feels impossible, but believe it or not that is not the only form of therapy. Therapy is like a shoe, you have to find the right one that fits you, and sometimes that means trying different shoes for the right fit. The goal is that you feel comfortable, supported and ready to take the next steps forward.

Here's some great tips to remember:

1. You do not have to stick with the same therapist, if they're not right for you - that's okay!

2. You can have multiple forms of therapy at the same time, there is no limit to the amount of support and self care you need.

3. Be honest. We are not here to judge or out to get you. We truly want what is best for you and for you to be happy.

Meet Caramel!

Caramel is one of our longest-running therapy animals, and at just 3 years old, she's already enjoyed visiting schools, care homes and nurseries.

Guinea pigs are naturally very social animals and can form strong bonds with both other guinea pigs and people. Their gentle nature and love of interaction can make them wonderful animals to spend time with, and this is one of the reasons we love including them in our Animal Assisted Therapy sessions.

Spending time with animals can provide opportunities for connection, gentle interaction and communication, helping to create a calm and positive environment. Of course, every person and animal is different, but we often see just how much joy our animals can bring to the people we visit.

Caramel especially loves being around people — and she's even happier when there are treats involved! She'll happily make friends with anyone who has a tasty snack to offer.

We had a lovely morning at our Dementia Memory Café this week, where we were joined by our friendly bunnies and guinea pigs for plenty of cuddles and smiles. Alongside spending time with the animals, we enjoyed some fun games and worked together on puzzles over a cuppa and a chat.

Thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a wonderful morning.
