The purple poppy is a symbol of remembrance in the UK for animals lost in service.

To raise money for the Royal British Legion, every year our very talented team lovingly makes crochet purple poppies for owners and felt collar poppies for dogs.

If you would like one, they are available now in all branches. The suggested donation is £3, of which all proceeds will go to the Royal British Legion.

🎆Are your pets afraid of fireworks?🎆

If the answer is yes, now is the time to start thinking about what you can do to support them before fireworks night arrives.

Our top tips are:
✅ Try to walk pets earlier in the evening and ideally before dark to reduce the risk of fireworks going off whilst they are outside.
✅ Make sure they are kept on a lead and that microchip details are up to date.
✅ Close windows, curtains and doors to reduce the noise and light level from outside.
✅ Create a "safe space" for your pet—somewhere quiet, snug and cosy. Some people like to use crates, covered in blankets, containing some of their favourite toys and treats.
✅ Play some music or TV to help mask the fireworks.

Please contact the Millcroft Vets team if you have any questions, or if you feel that your pet gets particularly distressed. If medication is required, your pet may need a vet check in advance so please contact us promptly to arrange this.

Today, we’re celebrating our wonderful Veterinary Receptionists!

Our Veterinary Receptionists are usually the first person you speak to when you pick up the phone or walk through the doors at Millcroft Vets.

They juggle the busy waiting room and phones, respond to emails, inform and update the team about incoming emergencies, assist owners and the veterinary team as needed, and offer compassionate care in difficult situations. The list goes on!

Whether you're visiting for a routine check-up or need support during a worrying time, they're here to help with kindness, patience and a genuine love for the animals in our care.
