Did you know that we have medication blister pack recycling boxes at both our Cockermouth and Workington branches? 👏

If your pet is on long-term medication or going home with treatments, those empty blister packs don't have to go to landfill. Just bring them along to your appointment and pop them in our recycling box.

It's a small step that makes a big difference – we're passionate about sustainable pet care and doing our bit to reduce waste. ♻ 🌍

Medication blister packs are often made of recyclable materials, but they can't go in your household recycling bin. By using our dedicated recycling boxes, you're helping to ensure they're disposed of responsibly.

If your pet is on regular medication, ask your vet or nursing team about our recycling scheme. We're always happy to help! 💚

Find our recycling boxes at:
🐾 Cockermouth: 01900 826666
🐾 Workington: 01900 66666

Ziggy is one happy pup! 🐕💙

When Ziggy first started coming to see us for his confidence clinics with Helen, he was feeling anxious about vet visits. But with his owner's dedication and our nursing team's expert support, he's had an amazing transformation.

Now Ziggy absolutely loves coming to the practice! His owner has worked so hard through multiple visits, and now he's happy, confident, and genuinely excited about his appointments.

Is your dog feeling nervous about vet visits?

If your pup exhibits signs of anxiety, like panting, shaking, tucked tails, "whale eye", hiding, or reluctance to enter the practice, our Canine Confidence Clinics could help.

Our experienced nurse works with you to read canine body language, reduce fear around handling, and build trust through positive reinforcement. We can also offer support with separation anxiety and other worrying behaviours.

Early intervention really does make all the difference.

Got a nervous cat or dog? Ring your local Millcroft Vets branch to find out more and book a confidence clinic appointment. We're here to help your pet feel calm, confident, and happy at the vets 🐾

This gorgeous python called Petal came to see us last week after her owner felt a lump in her throat.

On examination, Vicki discovered the problem - accidental ingestion of the wood bark substrate from her enclosure!

With the help of two of our experienced vet nurses, Vicki was able to remove the offending item without the need for Petal to have a general anaesthetic.

Brilliant outcome! 🐍👏

Did you know it's National Dog Photography Day?

There's no better excuse to take 589,327 more photos of your precious pup 🐶🥰

Here are some top tips for taking even cuter pics of your pooch.

📸 Get on their level - Crouch down to your dog's eye level for a more intimate portrait.

📸 Use natural light - Shoot outdoors or near a window rather than using harsh indoor flash.

📸 Focus on the eyes - A crisp focus on the eyes creates a strong emotional connection in your photograph.

FUN FACT - this special day was created in 2018 by Cumbria-based pet photographer Kerry Jordan of Fur & Fables! 😮🤩

After an incredible 18 donations, Tilly has officially retired as a blood donor with Pet Blood Bank UK ❤️

What started as a single donation in 2022 became years of helping save the lives of dogs across the UK 🩸

For owner Julie, every visit was an emotional reminder of the difference Tilly was making:

'I remember her first donation, the staff so kind, gentle, and encouraging, making it feel a safe experience. Me and Tilly have loved all the donation sessions. She’d practically pull my arm off when we were approaching the door, eager to see everyone! And everyone always making a big fuss of her, as they do all the other doggies too. Pet Blood Bank are such a kind and caring charity, and we are so happy to have been a small part of it.’

We are proud to support the work that Pet Blood Bank UK does. Right now, blood stocks are critically low, and more donor dogs are urgently needed to help ensure lifesaving blood is available for dogs in an emergency.

If your dog is between 1 and 8, weighs over 25kg, and is fit, healthy, and confident, please consider signing them up ❤️🐶 Visit www.petbloodbankuk.org/welcome to learn more.
