ATTENTION ANYONE WITH AN EU PET PASSPORT:

We have just heard TODAY that as of 22nd April, NEXT WEEK, anyone who uses an EU Pet Passport to travel to Europe can only do so if their MAIN RESIDENCE is in the EU. This ruling includes passports issued in Ireland.
We have literally just been told this today, with only 5 days notice of the change taking effect.
If you are planning to travel to Europe from 22nd April onwards, we advise you to:
1. Check whether your home/holiday home in Europe constitutes a 'Main Residence'.

2. If not, or if you are unsure, you will need to obtain an Animal Health Certificate within 10 days of your trip. Call us to arrange this.

3. Contact the APHA Pet Travel Helpline on 0370 2411710 or email: [email protected] for further information on what this means for YOU.

We do not have any further information, and can only give advice on how to obtain an Animal Health Certificate for travel to the EU.

We DO NOT know how this will be monitored, or what constitutes a 'Main Residence'.

Please contact us in plenty of time before any proposed journey in order to arrange for an AHC.

Does anyone recognise this beautiful cat from the Byfleet/Old Woking Road area? Please contact Byfleet Cat Rescue with any information.

We urgently need your help.

Mel has just taken in a male cat to Kingswood Vets after he was found near Old Woking Road. He is unneutered, not microchipped, and we believe he is around 2–3 years old.

At first, it was thought he may have been involved in a road traffic accident, but his injuries could also be the result of an attack from another animal.
Right now, he and will need urgent surgery, if he is to get through this.

We, along with the RSPCA and the vets, are desperately trying to find his owner. Please, if you recognise him or have any information, come forward.

This is a heartbreaking reminder of why neutering and microchipping your cats is so important.

We will keep you updated as we monitor his condition. Please keep him in your thoughts 🀍

A grateful owner has sent us this video of her dog Holly, just coming up to 12 years old, and underwent cruciate ligament surgery in April 2025. Now look at her! No longer on pain relief and living her best life! Well done Holly! πŸ₯°

We have received some disturbing reports today of a Parvovirus outbreak in the West Horsley/Forte Estate/Hatchlands Park area. While we have not seen any cases ourselves, nor had first hand confirmation of this, we do feel that our source is reliable.
Parvovirus only affects dogs and is a highly contagious disease that causes severe vomiting, diarrhoea and lethargy. Our advice is to check that your dog's vaccinations are up to date (give us a ring if you're unsure), and we would also advise avoiding the above areas for the foreseeable future if you can.
Please call if you have any concerns.

Call-out to anyone planning to travel abroad with their pets in the coming weeks, please give us plenty of notice to book your Animal Health Certificate - at least 2 weeks is good, and contact us at least 4 - 6 weeks in advance if you're unsure of what you need to do!

Who's enjoying the heatwave so far? Generally, animals seem to enjoy warm sunny weather and many like to sunbathe. But do keep an eye on them, don't let them get too hot, provide shade/shelter, plenty of cool water, and even sunscreen on any white ears to protect from sunburn or worse. Don't leave dogs in cars, nor exercise them during the hottest part of the day, and take extra care of brachycaphelic/short nosed breeds. Be sensible and Enjoy! β˜€οΈπŸ”₯β˜€οΈπŸ”₯β˜€οΈ

Keep the kitties safe in this heatwave! β˜€οΈπŸ˜Έ
