A rabbit’s poo can tell you a lot about their health. The most common issue I see is over feeding pellets, which leads to obesity and soft stools. 85-90% of a bunny’s diet should be fresh grass or hay, which should be feed freely at all times.

If your rabbit isn’t eating enough hay, reduce their pellets and fresh veggies.

Flystrike is more common in the summer months and can quickly become fatal. Prevention is always better than cure! Like most things with bunnies a good diet is key 🐰

At The Pet Nanny Rabbit and Guinea Pig Hotel, bottoms are checked twice a day and enclosures are cleaned twice daily. I only feed pellets once a day to encourage guests to eat lots of hay (luckily they all love my hay!) and I am always on hand to help owners with advice.

The best thing you can do is make sure your rabbit is registered at a 24 hour vet practice with an exotic pet vet, just in case! I use Voo Vets Cobham

Vitamin C is really important in a Guinea pig’s diet because like humans, they can’t make or store it in their bodies. Therefore daily intake as part of a healthy diet is essential.

At The Pet Nanny hotel lots of vitamin C rich foods are fed daily to help piggies live their best lives.

RVHD and Myxomatosis are highly contagious and often deadly for unvaccinated rabbits, so it’s essential that all bunnies that stay at my hotel are vaccinated.

To keep guests safe I ask to see each bunny’s vaccination certificate before they check in. Bunnies need to have been vaccinated at least 21 days prior to their stay.

If you’re thinking about booking your bunny into for a holiday and have any questions about vaccinations or disease prevention please get in touch.

Having a hoppy time! It’s this couple’s first night and they’ve settled in well to the honey moon suite.

I encourage owners to bring a blanket that smells like home they are always surprised how quickly their bunnies settle into the hotel.
