Cockburn Vets has been caring for animals in Leicestershire since the 1930's. And, although we employ current best practice and our surgery is kitted out with the latest equipment, we still retain our traditional values. We care about animals, not sales of pet medicines, so you can trust us to offer ethical advice and never to recommend treatments or medication your pet doesn’t really need. Our te

am will always deal with emergencies that occur during our normal working hours as a priority. If you call our surgery outside of normal hours, you will be automatically transferred to our 24-hour emergency service provided by MiNightVet.

***As this page is not monitored 24/7, please contact the surgery on 01530 836654 for enquiries, advise and emergencies.***

"Please feed me! I didn't get any breakfast!"

Fasting before anaesthetic and sedative procedures is important to reduce the risk of sickness and aspiration in our patients 🚑

August is Itchy Pet Awareness Month!

At this time of year we're no strangers to itchy pets. Causes include parasites (like fleas), allergies, ear infections, foreign bodies (think grass seeds!), and lots more. This is why it's important to have your dog checked over if they're scratching.

Remember: itchiness is not only annoying for owners, but it is not a pleasant sensation for our pets. We have lots of options for treatments, so please talk to your vet if your pet needs help in the itchy scratchy department!

Giving the right advice for you and your pet has always been at the heart of Cockburn Vets' values. We believe:

📌Your pet's needs come first
Any advice or recommendations we give are based on what's best for your pet's health and wellbeing.

📌In giving clear, independent advice
We're committed to providing transparent, impartial guidance to help you make informed decisions about your pet's care.

📌In providing support without pressure
We want you to feel confident asking questions and understanding your options, so you can choose what's right for you and your pet.

Impartial advice doesn't stop at the practice door. We've teamed up with Vidivet so that you can access independent veterinary guidance any time, 24/7, when you need reassurance about your pet, helping you understand what to do next.

This is our way of showing our commitment to transparent, independent veterinary advice, because you deserve confidence in the care your pet receives.

Equipment Highlight: Endoscope!

Our endoscope is a brilliant piece of kit that allows us to visualise what's going on inside as non-invasively as possible.

We use our endoscope for rhinoscopy (noses), gastroscopy (stomachs), oesophagoscopy (oesophagus - the food pipe), and more! Our scope equipment also allows us to perform our keyhole spays - allowing for a quicker recovery from spaying
