Hiro 💙
17th January 2016 - 3rd August 2026 💔
Our hearts were truly shattered yesterday to say goodbye to our boy. Our Hiro. Our Chonk. Our H-Bomb.
When he was diagnosed with cancer in March they told us he had maybe 12 weeks. We did everything we could - and he fought with everything he had in him - to give him more time. We were blessed to get 5 months. 5 months of making extra memories: 2 family holidays in his favourite place, quiet days at home, plenty of visits to all his favourite secure fields and unlimited treats/cuddles on tap to name a few.
5 months of him having a loved one by his side every minute of every day to make sure he never felt alone. In most cases me or his Dad, and on the occasions we couldn’t be there, his Nanny, Grandad, Auntie Kelly or Uncle Craig who he loved just as much ❤️
5 months was not enough, but at the same time, it was everything. It meant everything. I hope more than anything it meant everything to him too.
It’s important to remember that Hiro was more than his cancer diagnosis though. He was fiercely loyal to his people, the best big brother and friend to Koda, sometimes the most stubborn boy, sometimes the most docile. He loved to lick his Dad’s toes (yeah, I know, gross!), loved McDonalds chicken nuggets and Indian Poppadoms, loved kisses on his forehead, gave the very best cuddles and could throw one heck of a tantrum if he didn’t get his own way.
He really held far too many unique traits to list them all and we have more memories than I could ever share in one post - but we will remember every single one of them, forever, with pride.
He gave us 10.5 years of being the very best companion. My boy, I’m sorry we couldn’t buy you more time. If love alone could have saved you, you would have lived forever ‘n’ a day ❤️🩹
Run free over that rainbow bridge, until we meet again 🌈
We will carry you in our hearts until that day 💙
