Could you support us this £5 Friday? 💕

Sadly, it’s not new news that we are still struggling. As a non-profit, small animal rescue, we rely HEAVILY on donations to help keep the rescue going.

We’ve been able to help a few new rescues here and there, but the reality is that we simply don’t have the funding to help as many animals as we would like to.

Every donation we receive goes towards our vet fund, as the vets are pretty much our second home. Many of the animals who come into our care have never received veterinary care and through the lack of proper care, often health issues can arise.

We also have permanent residents here who rely on us for their ongoing care, including veterinary treatment when needed. Their needs don’t stop, and neither do the vet bills 🧾🐾

We believe in being completely transparent with every penny donated to our rescue. We regularly share veterinary invoices so you can see exactly where your donations are going, what treatment has been needed and, most importantly, the animals you are helping. We want every single person who supports us to feel confident knowing that their generosity is making a real difference.

Knowing that our rescues go on to live with some of the best caregivers, with people who understand and provide the proper care they need, is exactly what we want to see for every animal who comes through our doors.

Because smaller animals are not cheap companions, and they should be entitled to proper veterinary care, as any other animal 🐾

We have been putting off writing this post because losing Flora has been so incredibly hard, despite trying our very best for her 💔

Back in July, Flora went under for an urgent dental procedure, but sadly, she found recovery incredibly difficult.

Flora truly was such a big character here at HPR and had already been through so much. She had two surgeries before her dental procedure, one to remove the lumps she originally came in with, and another to remove a bladder stone. Both times, she made such amazing recoveries, so we remained hopeful for our girl. Sadly, though, we think that she was perhaps much weaker this time around.

It is so hard to put into words how much we miss her. We still think about her every single day here, and the herd just isn’t the same without her 💔

We have shared some of our favourite photos of Flora so that we can remember her and celebrate the amazing little soul that she was ✨ she deserves to be remembered, to be seen, and to have her memory kept alive ✨

Flora was so much more than what many people see when they look at a small animal. She had her own personality, her own character and her own special charm. She was a reminder that every small animal is an individual, with so much love, spirit and personality to give.

It was a privilege to know you and to be part of your rescue journey, sweet Flora girl 💕 clearly, you were meant to be part of our lives, and we were meant to be there to help you. For that, we will be forever grateful.

Indoor foster home needed for our lovely Stevie & Ollie 💕🏡

We’re hoping to find someone who is open to fostering with the possibility of adoption, rather than a temporary foster placement only.

Ollie does however require daily medication (which he takes like a dream 🥰) and has ongoing scent gland issues that require regular cleaning. Because of this, you’ll need to feel comfortable carrying out his cleaning routine and giving him his medication.

It’s important that you understand and are comfortable with the commitment Ollie may require, including regular vet trips and ongoing care, should you go on to adopt him. We want to make sure his future home is fully prepared to provide him with the care and attention he needs.

A minimum size of 5x2 C&C enclosure will also be required. We may possibly be able to help with some C&C grids if needed.

Ollie has been through more than his fair share in life. He was originally rescued from a dark shed, and sadly, hasn’t had much luck when it comes to companionship. He has lost friends over the years, but recently bonded perfectly with the lovely, Stevie 💕

Stevie really has really been through it too. He is a more recent rescue of ours who was close to being put to sleep, but ended up being dumped outside Pets At Home. Thankfully, his story didn’t end and he is here today, now searching for a home with his bud, Ollie ☺️

If you’re serious and think you could offer the right home for these lovely boys, then please contact us ASAP.

These boys deserve nothing but the best after all that they’ve been through 🌎
