Today is Jade’s birthday 🐰✨🎂

Jade is the co-founder of HPR and does an enormous amount behind the scenes to run, support and keep the rescue going. So, what better way to celebrate her special day than by helping the residents she cares so deeply about?

We know Jade wouldn’t want anyone to feel out of pocket, so there are a few ways you can help and even the smallest gesture makes a difference.

As schools get ready to go back this week, we’re asking everyone to think twice before bringing rabbits into the classroom. 🐰

Rabbits might look like the perfect school pet, but a busy classroom can be a stressful and frightening environment for a prey animal. They need space, companionship, quiet places to hide, and plenty of time to settle into their surroundings.

Regular handling by different children can also be unsettling, and caring for a rabbit properly takes commitment every day, including weekends and school holidays.

There are so many wonderful ways for children to learn about rabbits without keeping one in the classroom.

This school year, help us and put rabbit welfare first. 💜

Our lovely Ollie has a special opportunity to bond with a lonely boar, but due to some ongoing health issues, we’re looking for an indoor foster home where he can be safe, comfortable and well cared for while he gets the support he needs. He does require medications etc, so you will need to feel comfortable in dealing with this.

Ollie has been through more than his fair share in life. He was originally rescued from a dark shed and, sadly, hasn’t had much luck when it comes to companionship. He has lost friends over the years, leaving this gentle boy lonely once again 💔

We’d love nothing more than to give Ollie the chance to experience some companionship and happiness again, especially as he’s an older boar.

If you think you could open your home to this lovely guy and give him a warm, safe place to stay temporarily, please get in touch with us. 🥰

❕🐹 FOSTER CARERS NEEDED 🐹❕

We are currently looking for more guinea pig foster carers to join our rescue team!

Fostering gives guinea pigs in need a safe, loving home while we work towards finding them their forever homes. By becoming a foster carer, you can make a huge difference to a guinea pig’s life and help us rescue more guinea pigs in need. 🐾

What does fostering involve? 🏡

• Providing a safe, clean and loving home for a guinea pig in our care
• Providing their daily care, love and attention
• Keeping us updated on how they are settling and getting on
• Helping them become happy, healthy and ready for their forever home

Fostering can also involve caring for newly rescued guinea pigs who may have health issues that need to be identified and treated before they can be rehomed. Some may need a foster home while they receive veterinary treatment, recover or simply have some time to settle and have their health assessed.

💚 You will be fully supported by the rescue throughout the fostering process.

🐾 All veterinary costs are covered by the rescue, so foster carers will not be expected to pay for veterinary treatment themselves.

🏡 If you already have a suitable, secure and appropriately sized setup, fantastic! However, if you don’t currently have a setup, please don’t let that put you off. We may be able to provide a suitable setup for successful foster carer applicants.

Fostering can be incredibly rewarding, but most importantly, it helps us give guinea pigs the care and time they need ❤️
