Cat flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused mainly by feline herpesvirus and feline calicivirus, although bacteria such as Chlamydia felis and Bordetella bronchiseptica may also be involved.

Signs include sneezing, runny eyes or nose, mouth ulcers, fever, low energy and reduced appetite.

Kittens can become dehydrated and unwell quickly, as their immune system is still developing, meaning they are not as efficient at battling infection on their own. Vaccination is key to protect them as it reduces the risk and severity of disease.

Contact us promptly if your kitten develops symptoms, stops eating or has difficulty breathing. If they haven’t been vaccinated yet, this is your gentle reminder to book!

Mammary lumps can affect both dogs and cats, and they may sometimes be noticed during something as simple as grooming, cuddling or a routine veterinary examination.

That’s why we encourage pet owners to:

🐾 Check their pets regularly for new lumps

🐾 Pay attention to swelling or changes around the mammary glands

🐾 Keep up with routine veterinary health checks

🐾 Contact us if anything feels unusual

Pets can’t tell you when something has changed, so knowing what is normal for them is an important part of responsible pet care.

Chocolate poisoning is one of those situations where acting quickly really matters.

If your pet has helped themselves to chocolate, try to find out:

🍫 What type of chocolate it was (white, milk or dark chocolate)

⚖️ Roughly how much was eaten

⏰ When it happened

Then call us for advice as soon as possible. The sooner we know what happened, the sooner we can assess the risk and advise on the safest next steps.

Please don’t try to make your pet vomit unless a veterinary professional specifically tells you to do so.
