Ingrid Grayling Dog Trainer With over 35 years’ experience, I offer bespoke 1-2-1 dog training using my unique and simple training techniques.

Based at French’s Teign Valley Nursery, Christow EX6 7LB Dogs have always been a major part of my life and I have been training and working with them for over 35 years. My passion started not just at home when I was young but also when I worked during the school holidays at my local kennels near to where I lived, I spent many a happy weekend helping out and working there. I believe my knowledge is

as extensive as my experience with dogs. In my 20’s I trained and worked in London as a nurse and then moved to Cambridge to nurse at Addenbrookes Hospital before moving up to the north of England to start a family. I went on to set up a large boarding kennel establishment and training centre in the Ribble Valley in Lancashire. Through that experience I then decided to set up a small intimate Home from Home active holiday and boarding kennel business in Cumbria where I lived for around 25 years. In late 2019 I relocated my business to South Devon to be nearer my family, and where I currently work from. At the same time I also set up the training school and so was able to continue my passion of not just looking after other peoples’ dogs but training and behavioural work as well.

‘Training the Ingrid Grayling Way’ has been developed over the many years I have spent with dogs of all breeds and temperaments. I have endless enthusiasm, passion and a huge love of dogs, which I hope shines through when you meet me.

This adorable little labrador puppy is Oona is 13 weeks old. I couldn’t resist a cuddle with her!
 
She is going to start her basic training with me in a few weeks’ time, so it was important for her as well as her owner to come to meet me first.
 
Starting at this age is going to make training so easy for both the dog and the owner; it will all be achieved within 4 weeks - without the use of any treats / bribing!
 
I really can’t wait to get them both started.

The warmer weather and longer days often mean more time outdoors with our dogs - which is wonderful and should be enjoyed - but for many, summer can also bring its challenges.

Busier walking routes, picnics, barbecues, more visits, more outings, new distractions whilst out and about... the list can feel rather endless! Dogs becoming overexcited in new surroundings can all make training feel a little more difficult at this time of year.

A little guidance and consistency can make a great deal of difference, both for young dogs learning the basics and older dogs needing a refresher.

Otis worked very hard throughout his training and made excellent progress week by week. It is always rewarding to see the confidence grow in both dog and owner as they learn together. Very well done to you both.

And here he is! The "lively young male labradoodle" from yesterday's review.

When I first met this lovely pair, walks were a bit of a two-way negotiation… lots of interest in everything happening out there, not so much in what was happening on the lead. With plenty of consistent effort, that soon changed!
