*fully vaccinated, inc kennel cough, flea'd & wormed
*a good level of fitness and mobility

Suilven Mountain 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 update!

Firstly, a HUGE thank you to everyone who sponsored us on this crazy endeavour, Homeless Hounds will be very grateful for your support 🐶 🙏

The mountain was definitely a challenge. A long walk to the base and a steep scramble to the summit.

Unfortunately the final stretch of the ascent proved too much for me - there was a particularly technical traverse 20 meters from the top, where I thought it was safest to stay put with Gyp, rather than continue 😔

Steve went on to summit for the team 🙌🏔 Hats off to him!!!

This is my sweet boy, Gyp. This weekend he's giving back by climbing this massive mountain to raise funds for Homeless Hounds. Gyp is just one of thousands of Lancashire dogs who may not be here, without the help of Homeless Hounds.

In a moment of insanity, I agreed to climb this beast of a mountain. Please sponsor me so that I can't back out 😆

Steve, Gyp and I, are hiking up the iconic Suilven Mountain in Scotland. A mammoth walk and a technical climb, frankly, way beyond my capabilities!

21km walk, 830m elevation, classed as hard/technical 😲

Homeless Hounds is a grassroots dog rescue charity, right here in Lancashire. They save hundreds of dogs from being euthanised, dogs that have been abandoned by the humans who are supposed to love them. Boarding fees, veterinary fees and other overheads mount up fast. Every penny donated goes to covering these costs and keeping these dogs safe before they are adopted. I've volunteered for Homeless Hounds for 15 years, you'll never meet a harder working bunch of volunteers, who are utterly committed to giving dogs the lives they always deserved. Thank you

The best thing about the move away from those hot summer days, is the choice of walks that open up again. We're no longer tied to leafy canopies and a constant source of fresh paddling water, we can spread our wings (ok, paws), and adventure back onto trails that have been impractical during the hot summer ...

and WE ALL LOVE IT 🐾🥾😃

What is it that they say about a change of scenery? Well, that goes for dogs too... Extra energy, extra excitement, extra sniffing, extra exploring, extra joy 🙌

Dogs first. Always.

I've had to make tough decisions this week about which walks to cancel and which to start early in the day.

It's not a decision I take lightly because I make a commitment to my clients to be there on set days and they rely on that regularity.

However, this week has been the exception to the rule and most of my walks have been called off.

Is this good for business?
Definitely not.
Is this good for the dogs' welfare? ABSOLUTELY YES!

And I would do it again, in the next heatwave.

So this is my opportunity to thank all my wonderfully understanding, dog loving clients, who all agreed without question, that skipping walks was the right decision. Thank you for putting your dogs first ❤️

Here's a snippet of a message I just recieved from Beau's mum...
.."your care, knowledge and expertise is what we need and why you're always so busy...your thoughtfulness and advice are way more than I could've imagined when you took him on..." 🥺🙏

This is also a big shout out to all my friends in dog walking, training and grooming who have also prioritised their dogs over appointments ️🙌🫡 You guys rock!
