When Rolo first came to me, his owner had the same concerns many people do when they hear the words prong collar or e-collar.
Like most owners, she wanted the very best for her dog and wasn’t sure whether these tools were something she felt comfortable with.
Fast forward to today, and her perspective has completely changed.
Through proper guidance, clear communication, consistent training, and using the right tools alongside play-based training, Rolo is now a much happier dog to live with and a far more enjoyable dog to walk.
One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that these tools are a “forever solution”.
They’re not.
The goal has always been to teach the dog, build understanding, and create reliable behaviours. For many owners, as training progresses and consistency increases, the reliance on training tools naturally reduces.
I would never ask anyone to blindly accept something they’re uncomfortable with. i simply ask that people keep an open mind, ask questions, and judge based on results, education, and the welfare of the dog in front of them.
Rolo’s owner did exactly that.
The result? A more fulfilled dog, a more confident owner, and a much better quality of life for both.
