We’d been talking about adopting a cat for a year. Then we found Miss Chicky🐥
She’d been abandoned alongside two other cats, left outside in the summer heat with no food or water. We took her in, and she settled into her new home almost immediately.
Three weeks later, she disappeared...
She’d managed to sneak through a gap in the kitchen window, and when we realised she was gone, we searched everywhere. She was due to have a vet appointment to check for a microchip just days later.
We didn’t know where to start, so we turned to Crumb.
We printed the lost posters and put them up around the neighbourhood, hoping someone might spot her. Knowing vets and shelters had also been notified gave us a little peace of mind.
Then, someone spotted her and got in touch after scanning the QR code on her tag.
Miss Chicky had been hiding inside a van engine. She was thin, frightened and a long way from home, but with help from Celia Hammond Animal Trust, we finally got her back.
And here’s the thing: Miss Chicky wasn’t microchipped. Her Crumb tag gave people a way to identify her and contact us, while the posters helped spread the word.
She’s home now, safe and sound, making up for lost cuddles and getting used to life with her family again🥰
We’re so grateful to everyone who helped us look for her. It really does take a community.
And Miss Chicky? She’s still got that sassy personality we fell in love with in the first placefirst place🐾
