🐾 Ticks, Fleas & Grass Seeds Check After Walks 🌿
As the weather gets warmer, ticks, fleas and grass seeds can start to become a nuisance and become much more common — especially in long grass, woodland areas and fields.
As walkers we try to make sure we give the dogs a quick check over as they are popped back into the van to make sure there are no hitchhikers!
But as owners I would always encourage after every walk to give your dog a good check over maybe while you are sat relaxing in the evening:
✔️ Check ears, paws, armpits and around the collar for ticks
✔️ Look between toes and paw pads for grass seeds
✔️ Brush through the coat to spot fleas or debris
✔️ Watch for excessive licking, shaking of the head, limping or swelling
✔️ Remove ticks carefully with a tick remover
✔️ Contact your vet if you notice redness, irritation or a grass seed embedded in the skin
Grass seeds may seem small, but they can burrow into the skin, ears, nose and paws and cause serious problems if left untreated.
Keeping up to date with flea and tick prevention is one of the best ways to protect your dog 🐶
