A THOUSAND SUNSETS

For me, this beautiful poem of love hits my soul, it perfectly embraces my love for my only child who is now 24 years big and this moment in time that we have put down a marker.
Oh, where have those years gone? And, how incredibly fast they go!
Our recent tour of India was an important marker in our lives, for myself who I’ve been through a tough health concern over the past 6 months and, for my son who is embarking on new horizons to fulfil his dream. It embodies all that I have seen through global travel with P&O shipping beginning when I was just 19 to working with Manx Airlines & British Airways for just under 20 years. Life has been a super adventure of colour, sights & sounds, embracing culture, art, architecture and learning from the landscape, people and history.
My son has chosen a career ahead that will take him on many life lessons, dangerous adventures, he will see life and parts of the world most of us wouldn’t understand.He will be pushed to his limits and he will be cheerful in the face of adversity. There will be huge periods of time when I will not know where in the world he is and, indeed if he is safe, is he happy, is he warm, when he will return home.
His home, our dogs and the love of his family will be his guiding light.
A thousand sunsets that I have seen.
In thousand places that I have been.
A hundred lives that I have lived.
Each came with lessons. I’ve received.
A dozen souls that I am greeting.
Every time that we are meeting.
But, all the times I’m passing through,
there is a one & only,
YOU.
