K999 - dog behaviourist

K999 - dog behaviourist Qualified, recognised clinical behavioural psychologist, accepts vet referrals. 20+ years experience. Consultations.

My canine behavioural work targets 'last chance' cases where dogs are at risk of being signed into rescue centres or euthanised. Registered with the CFBA I have over 20 years experience of all types of behavioural issues. All of my practical experience is underpinned by theoretical knowledge gained via several diplomas. I specialise in aggression issues such as;

- dog aggression towards other do

gs.

- dog aggression towards people, family members or strangers. I also focus on adopted and rescued dogs (from the UK and abroad), guiding new owners through any issues and difficulties they may encounter. Basic training and obedience isn't something I offer but I can recommend trainers and classes upon request. Consultations are done on a one-to-one basis either at your home or at another suitable venue. They typically last around 3 hours; during this time I can observe your dog whilst you explain the issues. I can then explain the cause of the antisocial behaviours, develop an action plan with you and teach the skills needed to implement it.

Another Leo update!
He's still progressing and I'm now seeing his little personality emerging as he continues to explore.
He's been digging, thieving, fishing and tug of waring!

He's slowly improving everyday, long journeys are just made up of many small steps ๐Ÿ™‚

If you'd like to help support Leo's story you can contribute to the foster fund here (all help much appreciated);

Getting a struggling dog into a steady, predictable routine can inspire confidence and set the foundation for progression.

Problems can arise when the dog becomes reliant on that routine and is then limited by the confines of it.

Leo is very much like this, he's at risk of settling into a daily routine and then being unable to cope with any variation beyond it.

I'm going to have to carefully manage how I progress forward with Leo. I want him to continue learn and expand his social confidence, but not be solely reliant on the routine that helped him do so.

It's always a very fine balance with cases like Leo, but as ever, I'll try my best to get it right for him and his future!

Leo has been with me for a few weeks now on foster from Skylor's Animal Reacue.
His transition from the Chinese dog meat trade to living with me here in North Wales is certainly a big challenge!
Progress is generally slow, but we aren't in a rush as I want each positive step to be solidified creating a strong foundation of confidence beneath him.
Check out how he's doing...

This is huge!
I'm so chuffed I can actually bring this progress to you, Leo has taken a massive step forwards.
I've been working on his trust, his confidence, helping him progress through his trauma and building a foundation beneath him from which he can take an enormous leap of faith.

Having worked as a canine behaviourist with difficult cases for over 20 years, moments like these still get to me.

Although I can stroke Leo a little bit now and he's beginning to get comfortable with it, I need to progress this due to the next problem, mats!
Leo has developed some behind his ears which will need addressing sooner rather than later.
I need him to be comfortable being groomed before I attempt to tackle the mats, especially given their location!
here is how we got on...

Awesome progress from Leo the dinner dog rescued from the Chinese meat trade... he's really started playing with Nahla and Daisy!

Play fighting takes a lot of trust between the dogs and also requires a lot of social skills, etiquette, awareness and constant communication. So the fact Leo is playing so well is a huge indicator of how his overall confidence is increasing.
I love watching this!

once again, massive thanks to everybody who is supporting Leo though my Ko-Fi link, you are all awesome people ๐Ÿ™‚

This awesome young chocolate lab is called Bear.

He arrived as a stray into North Clwyd Animal Rescue and became an instant hit!

He's a fun loving typical lab, full of energy, full of play and just looking for somebody to share adventures with!

If you think you can offer him a great life, apply through his profile on the website (once it's published ๐Ÿ™‚).
