š¾ Canine Exercise of the Week: Wobble Cushion ā Sit and Stand
Start with your dog standing squarely with both front paws on a wobble cushion and their hind paws on a firm, non-slip surface. Gently ask your dog to sit, encouraging them to keep their front paws on the cushion throughout the movement. Once seated, ask them to return to standing, keeping the movement slow and controlled.
This exercise helps improve balance, coordination, proprioception (body awareness) and core stability. It also encourages controlled weight transfer, strengthens the hindlimb muscles and challenges the stabilising muscles of the shoulders and forelimbs. Start with just a few repetitions, ensuring your dog remains comfortable and balanced throughout.
