Baby birds 🐣
If you find a baby bird in a nest, observe from a distance to let the parents care for it. If a featherless baby (a "nestling") has fallen out, quickly and gently return it to the nest. Fully feathered babies ("fledglings") on the ground are usually learning to fly and should be left alone.
You should seek professional assistance if a bald or injured nestling cannot be reunited with its parents, or if you confirm the fledgling is orphaned. In the UK, you can contact the RSPCA Found a Baby Bird page for guidance, or use the UK Wildlife Rehabilitators Network to find your nearest rescue center.

Let’s talk about ferrets!
We see lots of ferrets in practice and perform a lot of spaying, neutering and vasectomies.

If a female ferret isn’t neutered it can be highly dangerous, ‘Jill’s’ are induced ovulators meaning they need a mate to stimulate the ovaries to release eggs. If the Jill does not ovulate she will continue to produce oestrogen and remain in season.
This can cause severe health problems and even death from oestrogen associated anaemia.

We offer various neutering options here including:
-surgically neutering males and females
-chemical castration (superlorin implant)
-vasectomies

A vasectomy is a process of sterilising a male ferret by removing the tubes that carry s***m so it doesn’t affect their ability to mate ensuring the Jills can be brought out of their season without becoming pregnant.

Here’s some photos of Sharon performing the delicate vasectomy surgery! We are pleased to say Archie is doing very well and the surgery was a success!

We hope all our lovely clients enjoy this beautiful bank holiday ☀️
Once again please be cautious of heat stroke in your pets, avoid walks in the heat, supply plenty fresh water and monitor behaviour.

Remember our pets can’t cool down like we do.
For cats and dogs look out for heavy panting, drooling, bright red gums, lethargy or vomiting.

For rabbits and guinea pigs watch for fast breathing, wetness around the nose, very hot ears or acting completely floppy/weak.

Move them to a cool area immediately. Offer fresh drinking water and call your closest emergency vet right away.
And finally- never leave pets in hot cars, conservatories or direct sun and keep cages and hutches completely out of the heat.
