Adorable eight-year-old Harvey came to us as a stray and is now ready to find a loving home of his own.

This lovely boy is a big fan of his food and has mastered using a snuffle mat to enjoy his dry food! He also loves a fuss and can often be found curled up on his cosy blanket on his cat tree.

Harvey would suit a quieter home with no other pets, although we feel he could live with older teenage children. Once settled, he’ll need access to the outdoors so he can enjoy exploring his surroundings.

A HUGE well done to everyone who took part in the Inflatable 5K on Saturday 10th October, raising an incredible £2,400 for our pets in need!

We were keeping our fingers and toes crossed that the event would be able to go ahead this year after it was postponed in 2025 due to high winds. We were delighted that everyone who registered for last year’s event transferred their registration to 2026, with all the donations already raised on their fundraising pages carried across to the new date.

A massive thank you to all our brave runners, including two members of our very own Shelter team, and to everyone who sponsored and supported them in this wonderfully wacky fundraising challenge!

Your support makes a real difference to the cats, dogs and small animals in our care. Thank you for helping us be there for pets in need!

Five-year-old Bronson is a gorgeous boy looking for a special home where he can feel safe and let his lovely personality shine!

Once you’re part of his trusted circle, you’ll discover a boy who loves fuss, attention and spending time with his favourite humans. He’s also a real foodie, so tasty treats are definitely the way to his heart!

Bronson enjoys walks, swimming and pottering in the garden. He travels well in his car crate and is happy to snooze while you’re out for a few hours.

Bronson is looking for an adult-only home as the only pet, ideally in a quieter environment. He can be nervous around new people, particularly men, and finds other dogs challenging, so he’ll need patient, understanding people who are happy to let a friendship blossom at his own pace.

We’re finalists in the Rescue Pet Awards! 🐾

We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that we’ve been shortlisted as one of five finalists in the UK Shelter of the Year category at the Rescue Pet Awards 2026!

This is a wonderful honour for everyone at Cheltenham Animal Shelter, and it feels especially special as we mark 100 years of helping animals in need.

We’re looking forward to meeting representatives from the other category finalists at the awards ceremony in November and celebrating the incredible work being done by rescue organisations across the UK.

One-year-old gerbils Babsy and Ziggy are a very sweet pair with lots of personality! These energetic little adventurers love to zoom around their tank, dig tunnels and hide away in their little houses. They’re naturally curious and love to investigate their surroundings, making them very entertaining to watch.

Gerbils make fascinating pets, especially for those who enjoy watching their natural behaviours. They love to dig, burrow, chew and explore, so providing plenty of space and enrichment is essential to keep them happy and active.

Babsy and Ziggy are looking for a home together, where they can continue their adventures side by side. They will need a large tank with plenty of depth to allow for a generous layer of bedding to burrow into, along with hides, tunnels and enrichment to keep them occupied.

Its time for a Sunday success story and this week is all about Cosmos who came to the Shelter after being dumped in a nearby park with another cat.

He initially spent a few weeks in our care before finding a new home but sadly that didn’t work out because another cat in the home took a dislike to him!

He remained in our care for another two months before finally finding his perfect match with new owner, Jane, who has renamed him Thomas Tomkins (or Tomkins for short!).

“I adopted Tomkins from Cheltenham Animal Shelter and haven’t regretted it for a minute. He’s just adorable! I thought he would be good company for Coco but actually he’s good company for me as well.

He’s named after a 16th century church music composer and Tomkins seems to suit him well. He lives with my slightly older matching black puss, Coco, who he annoys from time to time but just by being playful. Tomkins has adapted well to our new home in Fladbury and his favourite spot is lounging on the back of the sofa near the radiator.”

This just goes to show that the perfect pad is out there for every rescued pet! We wish Cosmos a very happy life with Jane and Coco.

13-year-old Rusty may be an older girl, but she still has plenty of life left in her paws and lots of adventures to enjoy!

This lovely lady loves a game of ball, sunbathing in the garden and having a good roll around in the grass. She might not be a lap dog, but she’ll happily be your loyal sidekick, keeping you company throughout the day.

Rusty would love a secure garden where she can potter about and enjoy the things she loves at her own pace. She’s looking for an adult-only home with no visiting children and no other pets.

Other dogs can be overwhelming for Rusty, so she needs an experienced owner who understands reactivity and can help her enjoy peaceful walks along quiet routes or adventures in secure paddocks.

She has previously been happy being left for a few hours at a time, too.

Your £1 raffle ticket could make a real difference to pets like Jocelyn and her kittens! 🐾

When Jocelyn was found as a stray, she was taking shelter in a garden shed with her four tiny, one-week-old kittens. Thankfully, they were all healthy, but we soon discovered that Jocelyn doesn’t respond to the sounds around her. We believe she was born deaf, something that can be more common in white cats with blue eyes.

Although her deafness doesn’t directly affect her quality of life, it can make the outside world more dangerous. We’ll make sure Jocelyn finds a loving new home with a family who understands her needs.

In the meantime, she’s proving to be a devoted mum to her four little boys – three ginger kittens and one white kitten just like her! ❤️

A huge thank you to our brave Fire and Ice walkers! ❄️🔥

We’d also like to thank everyone who came along yesterday evening to cheer on our amazing walkers and show their support. It was a fantastic evening, raising over £4,400 for our pets in need!

A special thank you to Aziza of Cheltenham Belly Dance troupe and Emzy Music Official for keeping our guests entertained and helping to make the evening so memorable.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who took part, donated, volunteered or came along to support us. Every penny raised will help us continue caring for the hundreds of cats, dogs and small animals who need our help each year.
