Lets play a game today... GUESS THE WEIGHT! 🎲

This regal 3 year old, Maine C**n, Skye, came in today for his annual vaccinations with Dr Anisa🐾💙.

As we all know, Maine C**ns are the largest domestic cat breed and can grow to an exceptional size, (just look at Skye with his owner), and believe it or not, Skye is not fully grown! It takes up to 5 years for Maine c***s to fully mature and grow! 🤩

Everyone meet handsome boy Glen who came in yesterday for a castration and microchip! 🐾
Glen had plenty of warm cuddles from receptionist Katie and other nurses.💙
As you can see he was very happy sitting on her shoulders!
When he wasn't in the arms of staff, he was in his kennel keeping nice and toasty warm because Sphynx cats can easily loose body heat due to not having fur.
He had a snuggly blanket and a heat pad which made it super cosy for him 🐾💙

Otto the Rottweiler puppy came in today to see Nurse Olivia for an a**l gland express. 🐾💙
He was such a good boy letting Nurse Olivia help express them. As you can see he was enjoying the attention this morning 😍💙

FACTS ABOUT A**L GLANDS :

🐾They naturally empty during bowel movements but can become impacted or infected, leading to a fishy odour, excessive licking, and "scooting" which makes the fluid become thick and pasty, causing discomfort.

🐾If glands do not empty, they can become severely infected or rupture. This requires veterinary attention, including antibiotics, pain medication, or flushing.
Inconsistent or soft stools contribute to the issue.

🐾High-fibre diets or supplements can help bulk up stool to apply the correct pressure for natural emptying.

If you notice your dog showing any of these signs, please give us a call and we can book you in for a Nurse appointment to express them!

Guess The Breed is back! 🐶🐾

Dave and Dolly came in Friday for their annual vaccinations and loved the attention they got on reception. 🥰

When reception asked what breed they were, we had to take pictures and show everyone because we knew it would be interesting to see if anyone managed to guess correctly!

Beautiful 15 year old Willow came in last week when her owner, Receptionist Katie, noticed she was over-grooming on her side. 🐈‍😸

When the Vet was examining Willow and found out that she is up to date with her flea treatment, the Vet then asked if anything has changed around the area/environment recently, which it had. Two new cats has been seen around the area, making Willow uncomfortable, which in turn, has left her to over-groom herself, as she was stressed 🐾

The Vet gave her an antibiotic injection💉 , sent her home with a course of steroids and a wonderful new head attire.. (aka the cone of shame) 😹. Which as you can imagine, she is not impressed by.🤭

Over-grooming in cats can be caused by a multitude of reasons:
🐾lifestyle,
🐾 diet,
🐾slight environment changes,
🐾 parasite control.

If you notice over-grooming on your cat, please call us so a Vet can see your feline friend 💙
